here we are! part 2 of my stockholm travel journal – the horizontal pics. TA DA!
feels so good to be done with this book at last! making a travel journal is such a concentrated effort and as much as i enjoy the process, i’m always glad to wrap things up. all future sketchbooks for travel will be small like this – so much easier to Get It Done.
my first official travel journal was for a 2000 trip to athens, greece. it’s nearly all writing with a few bits of ephemera pasted down haphazardly. how fun it is to read. in this travel journal (sweden) i seemed to develop an obsession with noting which busses i took. i’m not sure how interesting that will be in another 10 years, but it seemed important while i was doing it.
i’ll post part 3 tomorrow…

Oh My goodness How Glorious!! You captured Sweden so beautifully as far as I know from my grandmothers stories pictures and decor. I am over the moon in love with the Dala horse fabric trim you used on one page. IS that a new trim or a vintage find? I would so love to get my hands on some of it!! Cant wait to see part three. I am working on a journal that I have just finished putting together and am now filling, about my recent two week stay on Cape Cod. It was like I was seeing the place for the first time- now that I am free from family stress and drama and constraints of having to be some where every single moment. Magical to capture these experiences and moments and helps so much when I am homesick for my ocean!! thank you so very much for all of your inspiration and sharing. You are such a star!!

Is your famous Swede Carl Larsen? Part Duex holds up to Part One, making me want to go to Sweden TODAY, although I think that next summer would be more reasonable.

How very dear your journals must be, to you (and to us)! I have had fun making ‘Imaginary Trip’ journals, too. Amsterdam, France and England so far. They are wonderful to look at, and in these imaginary trips, money was no object, so I pretended I signed up for a $10,000 cooking school in France! Sky’s the limit! I love seeing your journals and hearing about your travels. What’s next?

It’s not going to be as exciting as a trip to Sweden, but I miss making travel journals, and you have inspired me to make one for my trip to Spokane and Walla Walla, WA next week!
Don’t laugh too hard, we takes what we can get! Still will be fun to make one and fill it! I’m working on a new blog for myself and will share when I have it up.

Good for you on planning a travel journal! We’re not all in a stage of life where we get to plan exciting trips, but that doesn’t take the fun out of recording your stories for this trip, even if it’s a place you’ve been to before. We go to Disneyland every year, and I always create some kind of memory book. It’s getting hard to find unique photos to take, so now I focus on the story of the day. I find over the years that I love reading and being reminded of all those little moments that would normally be forgotten. Enjoy your getaway!
