it’s midweek. between now and spring break, my schoolmarm to-do list is massive. i cannot wait to escape to my little coastal hidey hole in a few weeks for some peace and quiet. i’m going to walk on the beach at sunrise and sunset every single day and inhale as much sea air as possible.
the geisha photo above is a screenshot from a periscope i enjoyed this week by @daveinosaca. i want to find more travel broadcasters. this summer when i return to stockholm with my sister i’m going to do a few periscopes while we’re out exploring. it’s rare that i return to a place so quickly, but stockholm made a deep impression on me. i’ve had my airline ticket and apartment secured for about a month now. ingrid is meeting us in the city.
so much to look forward to and so much to enjoy right now. like irises for example. they’re in full spectacular bloom.
how are you? tell me.

The dark blue one iris is my favorite. Definitely loving your style. Waiting to see next a burden or a bird flirting with it ! A beautiful spring promise … can you smell this particuliar perfume ?

So happy to hear “WE” are going on vacation this summer! I loved Stockholm too and cannot wait to return (of course, I mean vicariously through you). I’d been waiting to hear about any new travel plans you had, and you have made me very happy…so nice to be going with your sister too. Enjoy your spring break!

Iris are awesome. One of my fav flowers. Spring break?! What’s that? Does a round trip is sixty miles to Aiken SC to paint count?! Plotting trips to Key West and France but not during spring break?!! Periscopes in Stockholm. Fun fun fun.

Stockholm, again! When are you going?
I will have 3 days in Stockholm before we go to Gotland in early summer. Can’t wait to go, and have already a few places you visited on my list of things I want to see in Stockholm! Just got my phone card for Sweden in my mail. 500 MB data per month for a year for only 50 SEK. (http://www.campingkey.com/de/angebote/999d20dd-2454-47a6-9330-a968c7534a10/ and then follow the link. I didn’t have to give any information about a camping card. Free international shipping.)
And I got my tiny watercolor pocket palette today, too! Now all I need is to make a travel journal.
It’s still cold outside. After a warm winter spring starts too cold. Snowdrops and even daffodils are already flowering, but it’s too cold to enjoy them outdoors…
Love your Irises!

2 weeks in mid-summer…can’t wait! thankfully, my iphone works overseas with no extra charges.
Sabrina says
My phone only works for calls without extra charge. Data is much cheaper than it used to be, but this offer is much cheaper than my phone plan… With this I can post on Instagram without having to worry 🙂

I will start working on scripts for the periscopes. I will be the camera person and you will be the star!
Mary Ann Moss says
the only star will be stockholm. or YOU. def def def not me.

oh boy oh boy! I will be sure to catch your Periscopes when you are on your travels!!!!!! Thank you! I am one of those lazy travelers…I want to explore and see new things and cultures but I hate airports and all that packing and getting ready to be away…

Love your iris and am excited for you and Carol to go to Stockholm! Can’t wait to see your sketch journals. 🙂 There is so much to look forward to and enjoy right now – you are right. Checking the garden this morning I saw tiny chive shoots coming up (had to break a bit off and inhale that sweet onion scent) and tiny pleated leaves of lady’s mantle and all the roses made it through the (not so cold) winter.

Next week is our spring break; alas, the staff does not get any time off. (What were they thinking, the administrators? ha ha).
I am thinking of my trip to London in less than 90 days and putting my travel journal together and wishing I had some pages from a Snow & Graham calendar (I even looked on ebay for old ones). I’m wondering if I should check a bag or go carry-on only. I’m wondering if I should buy new clothes (who said “Beware of any enterprises that require new clothes”?). I wonder if I should let my hair grow into gray.
Your irises are wonderful!
Caroline says
Cold and rainy here but in a week I go to Tybee Island (GA coast) where there is hope that it will be warmer. At least I can walk on the beach and breathe the air. I really need that this year. Daffodils are blooming here so all is not gloomy, just me!

I’m a confirmed iris lover. When I was a kid, my girlfriend and I picked the blooms with a bit of stem attached, turned them upside down and pretended they were ladies in gowns. I live down the road from a wonderful Russian artist, and I did a day-long photo shoot of him in his studio a couple years ago. Later, when he found out it was my birthday, he gave me one of his prized iris paintings for a gift. Love yours!
Mary Ann Moss says
our spring break is alas only 1 week…and we don’t get another in April. that sounds perfect!
Janet Ghio says
the purple iris against the orange background is lovely

I’m trying to get back into the swing of school after a one week vacation. You get 2 weeks? How lucky. We get another week in April but I think I would rather have 2 together so you could travel more. And recoup more too. I was in New Mexico (Taos and Santa Fe) and I still want to be there. Its cold and not Friday yet. Those irises look wonderful. 🙂
