summery weather here in los angeles this weekend. i went for a walk late this morning, motoring along under camelia blossoms & palm trees. sunbeams followed me along the path. a hawk soared overhead.
stopped outside this frank lloyd wright and stared long and hard through the gate.
came home & tended the garden a bit. found these velvety scarlet leaves hidden among the rambling scented geranium. i had no idea they turned red at this time of year!
finished my sketchbook and pulled down a new one from the shelf.
this one…
which i made over a year ago, but am only just now getting around to using.
thought i’d do another periscope directly on the heels of yesterday’s broadcast. i’ll “scope” again next weekend. a lot of you have asked about periscope so i’ll refer you HERE for a summary. I haven’t quite figured out how to film in landscape mode. but if you put your iphone or ipad on a flat surface and turn it so the video appears in landscape that’s a work-around. it’s what i do as a viewer. hopefully i’ll get better at checking my ipad for comments, so i can respond and/or answer questions. when i watched the replay i noticed i completely ignored some people who were nice enough to comment. also big thanks to everyone who tapped their screens and sent some periscope love (hearts) my way. not necessary to do, but it does feel good to see them coming through when you’re on the other end of the broadcast and fumbling your way through it.
a lot of people have asked me who i watch regularly. augustwren & ohnmarwin. both wonderful! someone i’ve seen less often, but have enjoyed is victoriajohnson. michelecooper (very talented urban sketcher) is another one i hope to catch soon. watercolorists, sketchbook keepers, illustrators, travelers – all of those categories interest me greatly!
i’d love to see some of you working in your journals & sketchbooks so let me know if you start doing any live broadcasts.
on today’s broadcast (which is available to watch until tomorrow around 2 pm) i worked on my first page in my new sketchbook. for those of you who watched you’ll notice i made some changes after the broadcast ended.

With all due respect to your time and effort but after a while I couldn’t stand all the chatting –I do respect all the inquiries or questions for sure– So I blocked. I wanted to see your process and get more inspiration. Don’t get offended, I read you often I’m a big fun of your creativity and imagination.
I hope one day to hug you and say thank you!
Please keep sharing don’t worry about keeping up
I am looking forward form more from you.

Awww my favorite part is the chatting! It makes me feel like I could be right there creating with her. Love the comments and questions too:)

ha ha ha!!!! well i’m really bad at multi=tasking and i don’t expect that to improve much so i probably won’t be able to keep up with everyone’s comments as hard as i try. i think it’s really great to have the option to not show the comments when replaying or watching. some of us are just not proficient at watching/reading/listening (myself included!)

I love your new sketchbook, Mary Ann! I did manage to find you on periscope and watch your video. I LOVED it! How does one know when you will be on next? I haven’t figured that out yet. I had fun reading the comments and making hearts:). Hey! I collect bird figurines too! I have lots of cute little birdies too.

Could someone help me out with the Periscope app. I have dowloaded three different apps that say Periscope, to my iPad, but none seem to be THE app. None have a search capability where I can search for MAM.
Anyone have a link to the correct one? Thanks in advance.

I have to check out this periscope thing, I hear of it everywhere and now that YOU are doing it I have to see it! Love your journal, I will have to get sketching soon!

I actually caught your periscope first thing when I woke up (Japan time). It was fun to comment and not only get responses from you, but from other viewers. I usually don’t catch them live. Keep them up! I’m going to try a sketch using my Lamy with water soluble ink. It looked like a fun effect. Also, thanks for helping Pam get her e-course going. No surprise that I’m loving it.

I was so excited to be able to watch your Periscope live!!! What a treat…. I loved every minute of it. And…. You were my first!,,, LOL it is almost like FaceTime…. Thanks so very much, Emie

Damn, Periscope doesn’t work on my phone, so I can’t watch you live. But I can see the broadcast later, at home! Loved your first two broadcasts, I always enjoy watching you work.
And yes, I often watch a video from one of your courses (mostly Sketchbookery or Ticket to Venice) while working in my sketchbook. Usually not a video that I haven’t seen (have to watch it first undisturbed), but one that I know. It inspires me!

Loving these periscope peeks! I am not able to watch whilst it is live, so cannot comment at the time, but they are little jewels of goodness in my day! Thank you Miss Moss, for sharing. Keep them coming!
