i went for a walk this morning and met this squirrel. isn’t he cute? i’m going to paint him the second i finish this post.
i was toodling around moss cottage this afternoon and thought i would do my first periscope. it was absolutely brilliant. flawless. sort of. not really.
i had 7 viewers. thanks mariainthegarden & michelecooper & somepinkflowers for sitting through the entire wretched thing and being so nice! apparently i laugh when i’m nervous because there was a lot of that. i forgot to introduce myself as i’ve seen other periscopers do. thankfully i didn’t curse. i said, “oh boy” about 20 times. but the really fabulous thing is I DID IT! i’d meant to start in january, but kept putting it off. so today with barely any forethought i just dove in. there is something to be said for spontaneity but next time i will at least make sure i’m not in the sun, i have a paper towel handy, my pens are nearby, and my ipad is ready to go. also if possible i will laugh and shake the table less. but i can’t promise anything!
this was my set-up. i got the tripod arm thingy for $25 buckeroos on amazon. works great. don’t know the name of it, but will hunt it down if someone wants that info.
afterwards i added a bit more ink & sketched some more pears. next time i think i’ll start something then work on finishing it like i’ve seen others do. starting with a blank page (my very last one in this sketchbook!) has it’s drawbacks. mainly that it lasted 18 minutes. i had meant to broadcast for 10.
happy saturday cute people!

I found a different phone holder at Barnes and Noble. Kikkerland Flexible Phone Holder is $14.95 and seems sturdy enough to do the job.

I watched your Pear-iscope replay and loved it! The thing that is great about Periscope is exactly the fact that it IS unpolished. I thought the sunbeam across the page was quite pretty from a watching point of view. It was really fun to see how you paint–I hope you’ll do more! 🙂

Watched your Periscope this morning after reading your blog post. Wishing I had seen it live, but I’ll catch the next one – got the app all ready and waiting. Can’t wait to see what you do next time.

what’s this periscope thing and how do I find it? I’m not tech savvy, but don’t want to miss anything …I’ve not been so active on the computer for a while, but do try to check in at least once a week.

Just watched your Periscope! Wonderful, goofs and all! I liked that you started with a blank page – when people start in the middle, I always wonder how they got where they are. Next time, could you – if possible – let us see your palette as you mix your colors?
Love your blog. Can’t wait to see more Periscopes!

Technology and I are not great friends. After conquering the blog challenge (with the support in large measure of Jamie Ridler, my
Circe’s Circle girls and Kim the technology queen), I’m set to tackle Instagram. I know, I know, always the lollygagger. Now it looks like I need to rise to the periscope challenge, too. Sigh. So you better have more videos ready to throw in the pot.

Just watched the replay of your first and fun Periscope post. Loved it! Now I know how to look for people on Periscope. And I think I get a notification whenever one of the people/groups I’m following is live on Periscope. Thanks for posting about your experience or else I wouldn’t have known.

So much fun Mary Ann…thanks for periscoping. Never heard of this before but now I’m following you. I look forward to your next broadcast heart heart heart. Can you share the artists’ names you are following? Cheers from deerland.

You’re cute, Mary Ann! Thanks for the adorable squirrel pic. Our backyard squirrels are my pets. They even sometimes sit as close as a foot away from me and eat the peanuts I put out for them. Of course I have to sit rock still or they get squirrelly and run away. I am a wannabe squirrel whisperer–just wish I could pet one. Congrats on periscope.

I just watched it too Mary Ann and loved it. So fun and I giggled out loud with you. If I tried it, it would be a comedy of errors I’m sure. Your page turned out beautifully. As usual. Now keep them up!

i need to learn how to make, edit and post videos for a blog i am starting. my phrases for 2016 are “keep it simple” and “keep going” i have no idea what periscope is but it sounds like you are a brave person to be doing it! wish i had seen it!!!!
Mary Ann Moss says
periscope is a “live” broadcasting app. you can download it for free at the app store. you can search for my name “mary ann moss” and follow me, then when you open the periscope app there will be broadcasts from whomever you follow. they are available to watch for 24 hours. i love watching people while i work on my own things in my sketchbook. kinda fun…:-)

I just signed up for Periscope last week, so when I got the notification of this blog post, I immediately went and watched your video (I think it stays up for 24 hours?). I loved it, especially because of all of its imperfectness. It was just like hanging with you on a sunny Saturday afternoon, making art! (shame on SomePinkFlowers for not telling me you were posting live!) Hope you will do lots more!

Your first Periscope was so fun. I’m sure I was not the only one laughing wth you but not at you. You were so good natured about it all. Can’t wait for more,!
