i’ve left the flatlands of SOFO behind, and now i’m in a hillier area on the lovely island of södermalm here in stockholm.
very close to mariatorget. if you’ve familiar with stockholm you know exactly where i am. just east of hornstull.
in an old building with a considerably smaller, yet very pleasant courtyard.
where outside my 2nd story windows(3rd in US) i am surrounded by other buildings. the streets are much narrower.
yesterday i gathered my things together and caught a taxi to the new apartment. the new owner was very accomodating and let me check in early. she, her husband, and 2 little girls have a “country home” as she put it. so while i hang out here all week, they are just outside stockholm about 90 minutes or so.
it’s a much larger apartment, but less expensive than my old place. i felt so sad when i realized my old courtyard apartment with the giant trees and birdsong were gone. but i unpacked, and left for a scouting walk through the area. by last night i was feeling better about everything.
totally different style.
but not without its own charms. and a fresh vase of sweet smelling peonies and a bottle of cold bubbly! not bad for about 12 hours notice eh?
there are new tea cups to discover.
new rooms to move through.
lots of people to observe from the windows. nearly all of them have baby buggies with babies inside! but i did see one man with his cat on his shoulder. whaaa?
he was going for his nightly stroll. just like me!
it’s great fun to have a gorgeous neighborhood with old wooden houses and views across the water!
the water, people!
i went for a long walk in this area about a week ago and have been meaning to send you a postcard ever since.
i have much more i want to say about a walking path on some steep hills near my house. moteliusvägen.
but that will have to wait!
because the second i’m done drinking my coffee i’m outta here!
hitching up one of these fine steeds for a ride through a new part of stockholm.
leaving my little hillside behind, hopping on a bus, and going where my impulses take me.
flowers will probably be involved. cause i can’t seem to get enough of sweden’s summer blooms.
see you soon.
i think this sign says:
my cat maria must be let in the apartment whenever she wants.
love from stockholm!
p.s. i added more red & white textile pics to THIS post for your viewing pleasure.

I heard on the news this morning that the Euro took a deep plunge making the US dollar worth about 25% more in value. Only have to watch out from the bank conversion fee for credit card processing which might leave you with sticker shock.
Although I loved the white apartment (my favorite color for interiors) I’m sure you’ll find plenty to love about this new place.
Can’t wait for the new photos for the day’s adventures into the neighborhoods of Stockholm. I’m sure you’ll find some curious little shops too.
Loving this trip to Stockholm with you. I’m sure you haven’t been bothered by my place in your pocket.

good opportunity to practise your perspective drawings on the houses opposite. Lovely shadows around. So glad you got some sunshine in this crappy weather we´re having in Sweden. lucky you are a rainloving person

Did you play with the horsies? You can tell us. Teehee! Your new place is charming and definitely bigger, but I fell in love with the white one. I love that pic of the cat on the table. Can’t wait to hear about the hill climb.. I am thinking it will be entertaining:). Keep having fun!
