it's been good this week up here on the north coast.
the remote location helps to maintain a certain quaintness.
yesterday dottie & i walked out to another cove a bit further north. we watched a whale superhighway spouting its way down the coast.
on the way back to our little cove we saw a goat surveying his kingdom by the sea. he was staring out at the water, or so it seemed.
i've been enjoying a watercolor tree sketchathon.
there's a lot to see.
all of my renderings perfectly imperfect, yet the whole adds up to a good record of my north coast wanderings. watercolor images to jog the memory further down the road.
as it should be.
here's dottie trying to take in all that blue.
while she writes notes and individual letters to enclose with all of her many christmas cards, i work in my sketchbook and read.
hope you're hitting some high notes of your own out there on your ponderosas around the world. i'll just be here.
savoring the vast blues and admiring the trees.
p.s. registration for SKETCHBOOKERY Winter Session ends on the 31st!

Gorgeous photos! I would love to take your Sketchbookery class. Unfortunately I am not only a poor student, but a poor ART student. Paint comes before food.
Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Love the pic of the goat! How great is that?

Love the photos of this beautiful place…breathtaking scenery.
Looks like Dottie is enjoying herself…I recognize the scarf as one Carol made some time ago. I’m a knitter so I tend to notice hand knits…I wonder if her sweater is hand knit? How did you not lasso Dottie into painting or playing with paints?
Doesn’t float her boat?
Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

*sigh of contentment* What a lovely holiday – the view and your sister to share it, the whale parade, the tiny general store, your rocks and water and across the cove sketches. Thanks for sharing it all.

I really like your “across the cove” watercolor. You are so right about having your own sketches of what you’re seeing now to bring it all back later. It’s even better than a photograph.

Looks so lovely there! Enjoy!!

Your forest of varying shades of green is utterly delightful. I’m smitten with with them. Your sketches imperfect as they are capture something special and I think they are perfect, not in the precise way but the what they capture for you, all those daily memory jogs for down the road, for when you are tucked snug in Moss Cottage. They are perfect cuz you through caution to the wind, tossed out the manuals of rules and just did it your way which is the best way. Every time I stop by to take a peek i am blown away by what your magic fingers are doing with all that paint and brushes and pens. Keep on being imperfect and I’ll keep peekin in the window flying by on my over sized wings. I don’t want to alarm you but I fell in the waves a few times and stirred up quite a raucous. I might have scared those poor whales. Happy wanderin’ Mary Ann and wishing Dottie many happy trails too. 🙂
