i love porch life. sitting, looking, drawing, feeling the breeze. i’ve stared across the hills at the same exact scenes for over a decade.
i managed to narrow my view to a small square and committed it to paper. what will i draw today?

I love the simple everyday life scene of this sketch that you’ve made delightful. Sketching doesn’t have to be a spectacular scene…just an impression that you want to keep.

Porches are awesome and so is this sketch. I think this is my favorite thus far. I am pretty sure it’s that power pole against the background of undulating velvet greens and the home peeking above the treeline that sets my heart all a pitter patter with sheer delight. I’d hang this on my wall. Just something special about it and I’m guessing that probably has to do with the artist who captured the moment…the happy and content owner of the cottage called ‘Moss’xoxo

There are few simple pleasures more satisfying than a porch sit. I’m really liking the color swatches you are using to accompany the vista. Are they color mixes you’ve created?

When I was a child in St. Louis, most houses or flats had a front porch. In the summer all the people on the block would sit on the porch while the kids played on the sidewalk or in the street. Everyone visited with one another, some listened to the baseball game on the radio, some would walk up to the corner market for penny candy or an ice cream cone. Once air conditioning came along, no more sitting on the porch.! What a shame, huh? Don’t get me wrong, I couldn’t live thru the summer without A/C in the desert…it’s just that it was a fun time to be a kid before A/C I’m glad you have a porch where you can enjoy the view.

The most ordinary scenes become charming when rendered in watercolors, don’t they? It’s always been my favorite medium and I’m so glad to now be liking my own sketching since taking Sketchbookery.
