howdy & hello
since i featured the full-length article i wrote for somerset life a few days ago i've heard from some of you in the comments thanking me for posting the entire piece. some of you who live in smaller towns or outside the u.s. don't have easy access to these publications. and well..you know..i am here to serve!
i thought i'd take a trip down memory lane and put up an article i wrote for artful blogging in 2008. i had been blogging less than a year when i wrote this. 5 long years ago.
if you've been hanging out with me here at DFLA from the beginning you might remember this…
if you click on the pages to open, then click again to enlarge it's easier to read.
happy friday dear peeps!

I meant imperfect OLD eyes! Ha!

Mary Ann, I love, love your blog and the gorgeous huge pictures. I was wondering if you would consider increasing the type size just a little for those of us with imperfect, young eyes?

I honestly cannot remember how I came to find your blog years ago but just darn glad I did! It’s been a wild ride watching you and your art evolve to where it is today. I have loved it all from Stencilry to Sewn (although I have not been able to take that class yet, I love what I have seen). Your sketches have me ‘pea green with envy’ and your colorful graphic journal pages make me smile. Bless you for this journey you have allowed so many of us to share!

Mary Ann, I have saved this magazine and that article has taken me on all of your cyber and creative journeys! It is my go-to every morning with my cup of joe. It is a fun and sometimes wacky (in a great way!) start for my day. How interesting that even though I’ve not met you, I can feel that you are a part of my family!
Wishing you safe travels to Amsterdam!

I think I found you through that article too. It’s been following your creative journey.

I discovered you through that Artful Blogging article. Can’t believe it’s been that long! What a treasure find!
Thanks for all these years of consistently inspiring stuff.

Oh my! I remember this and I have that magazine here in the tangled mess I call my Journal Cave. I went straight out, bought spray paint and almost affixiated myself playing with stencils! I am sure that is spelled wrong but I don’t care, beans!! Thanx for being you, Mary Ann!

I love your stenciled self portraits. I hate the smell of aerosol paint — makes me really sick. Which is why I don’t use it!

Yay! I hope I have this one! I’m going to check. Yes, it is so nice of you to post your entire articles! Love this!
Xoxo,
Sheila

I have that older magazine and re-read that article recently, Mary Ann. Gee, I cannot find a copy of Somerset Life here in san Francisco if my life depended on it. Phooey. I wish they would get it out at news stands because I wanted to buy a copy. I enjoyed reading it on your blog but Lord knows, i love paper. Actual paper. Have a fab time in Amsterdam. Hummm…..are you going to one of those FANCY bars….if you know what I mean?

So it comes full circle you see. It was this issue of Artful Blogging that lead me to the doors you’ve thrown open at Moss Cottage. I remember in my excitement, reading the article and then jumping on the net train taking a quick ride right to your place on the web. I knew I’d be hanging around for a very long time and it has been such a delightful journey thus far, your daily and extended travels have given me eyes on places I can only dream about, you bring them here and it allows us a front row seat and the true beauty is that you capture the best parts, not the stuff of a typical tourist but rather the heart and soul of a vagabond, an adventurer and explorer all rolled into one and sure the occasional glimpse of a famous place, a shot not to be missed is all good but the real delight is just around the corner; the hidden places that hold the real magic. You find those and share them here. It’s the best seat in the house, heck on the whole darn web far as I’m concerned. VBG!
