i was dying to check out the sauguaro hotel in palm springs with its sherbet colors. pam & i were v.v. excited when the nice people at the desk let us check out the interior courtyard with our big cameras. even a chimp with a camera could get gorgeous shots at this place. a crush of luscious color. not all of the bright colors in the pics above were captured at the saguaro though. palm springs is awash in white, grey, pale blue, mustard, and other pastels that are completely divine in this desert landscape. visual inspiration around every corner. a real feast for the senses.
the owner of the house we rented mentioned how he enjoyed the pool at night while listening to tony bennett. whaaa? oy. why didn't i think of that! sounds dreamy. next trip to PS i am so bringing frank sinatra & tony along for the ride. in the meantime, i zipped over to itunes today and got some tony bennett. i've been continuing my sketching & painting in the visual journals today with that on in the background. i'm in a late summer pleasure bubble of music and color. come over later. i'll hand you a frosty cucumber martini and we can sit out back and daydream together.

Okay, so if your blog wasn’t so damn delectable my baby wouldn’t have just choked on a sequin. So I blame you. Fully.

A visual feast. Thank you. (I’m way too much of a wimp to venture to PS in the summer!)

Whilst chilling out with your cucumber martini, may I suggest the musical stylings of the sublime Mr. Chet Baker. King of West Coast Cool Jazz of the 1950’s. Start with My Funny Valentine (Blue Note), segue into It’s Always You, then just keep going. Bittersweet perfection; I know you’ll understand.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. The architecture and the colors on the hotel are so right for each other and for the desert. Wow! Can’t get to your house but I will join you in the daydreaming. I’ll find something cool and refreshing to sip on while I do. (that is a really hard thing to do since we are still in the middle of renovation but your suggestion sounded so nice.)

Worth staying for the colors. The best FS recordings are from when he was vety very young and starting out. They are regretably on tapes and we now have no way of getting to play them.

back peddling myself to your door to play along. Actually, I’ll just sit quietly, sip my drink and listen to your high tales of adventure, hi-jinx and art shenanigans. I love nothing more than a good story and yours are always so splendid. Love the pics, after all a good story must included lots and lots of pictures to look at.

what fun, love the colors. Yes, Tony Bennet and Frank Sinatra would be wonderful to listen to during a swim! Two of my favorite singers.
Can’t wait to see more of your dabblings in the journals.
Pam DOES look like she’s holding a plucked chicken in her hand…HA!

I have an art friend that I sync with like you do with Pam. Isn’t it a great feeling to just go hang out and do art with a kindred soul? Thank you for sharing your experience and your creative gifts.

LOVE these colors! Thanks for sharing your ‘retreat’ with us; I always enjoy seeing what you and pam are up to. Can only imagine all the hooting and hollerin’ that goes on! (That pic of pam in front of the house kinds looks like she’s holding a dead chicken…or maybe I’m just hungry.) 😉
