Istanbul travel journals. Simple covers made of my 2009 Snow & Graham calendar (I take these apart every year and do something with the pages) wall paper, assorted other scraps. A few of you may recognize little bits here and there that you sent me. I enjoy incorporating those “love offerings” into my travel journals. One of my favorite things about traveling for the last few years is hearing from people via comments or emails who have been to the same places. And sharing the experience with other people who haven’t been, or may never go.
I wanted to travel for many many years before I actually did. I remember being nourished by all of those Travler’s Tales books. This is all to say, take heart. If travel seems like an impossible dream you’ll never see come true, keep dreaming. You’ll get there. I know you will. And in the meantime, I’m tucking you into my pocket and taking you along for the magic carpet ride. Through video, through writing, through photos, through these journals. You’re there.
I’ll show you the inside pages and more cover progress later in the week. Maybe tomorrow!

Mary Ann,
Thank you for taking me with you on your trips. You inspired me to make a Paris journal, even though I have no plans to go yet. I kept thinking, if I build it, it will come. so, this post really spoke to me. Thank you for all you do for me every time I read your blog. Best – Molly

Beautiful calendar pages! I love to buy tons of calendars at the end of the year when they’re on sale. Such a great weight to work with. Thanks for sharing Snow & Graham, I may have to buy some of their delicious gift wrap!!! Beth

I agree with everyone — thank you for taking us along with your on your travels. While I go to the Carribean every year, it does get to be somewhat the same (notice I said somewhat!). His royal highness is addicted to the everything Carribean and since he does not mind the “non-tourist” parts, I am happy to go. But to broaden his horizon would be great….

I just love the fact that you are so willing to share your travels with us, I was touched at the notion that you are saving a little space for us to tag alone for the ride. Your photos and videos are fantastic; full and brimming like a full glass of wine, that even a small sip is like having been blessed with the whole bottle…I am excited for you…your journal is looking amazing, can’t wait to see what you have in store for the pages…I will just curl up in that pocket and quietly wait for the adventure to begin. 😉

Will you be stitching your signatures into the spine or….? How many books are you making? What’s the size? Question question question… I always look forward to witnessing the process.
