Istanbul travel journal signatures. 2 signatures for each our journals. I gathered assorted papers together: scrapbook, ledger, wallpaper, assorted decorative papers. Whatever I had on hand. In keeping with my love of the odd, I’m a big fan of the BAM POP scrapbook paper line. Parachuting robots, pink skies, birds with helmets. Just my speed.
If you were in REMAINS OF THE DAY, you’ll recognize the single stitch I like to run down the middle of the signature to bind together before I sew them into the spine of the covers. I do not like wrestling with pages while I sew. No no no.
I don’t generally prepare my travel journal in advance with destination themed papers. Instead I fill the journal with photos, postcards, and various ephemera while I’m on the road. Everything will go onto these backgrounds.
I haven’t sewn bits onto the pages this time like I did for my Mérida or Lisbon travel journal. I’ll be attaching everything via my Tombow mono adhesive & a few kooky rolls of tape once I’m in Istanbul.
The size of both journals is more or less 6 x 8. Small enough to tote around, big enough to add plenty of images later and still leave room for writing.
If you were wondering if I was planning to play the Skipper again to my sister’s Gilligan the answer is NO.
Here is my new hat. Carol got a straw fedora with a peace sign. I’m so not kidding about that.
Last year’s Skipper hat:

You are right…it doesn’t get any better than parachuting robots! Your pages look good enough to eat already! Can’t wait to see them filled!

I would so love to watch your cat posse, two weeks at the Moss Cottage rambling through your art journals, sitting by the fire drinking custom martinis….better than a resort! Unfortunately, my anchors are huge and vocal and continually interfere with my dreams. And, my cat posse (4) would feel really really jealous that I am scratching another cat’s neck. Sigh. Have a wonderful trip and please post pics. Your travel journals have an anticipatory look that generates its own energy, can’t wait to see the filled pages:)

I can’t wait to see what you do with your travel journal! I love those papers and have tons like them myself but never use them for fear of their boldness. I can’t wait to see how you integrate them–such a clever woman! Oh, and LOVE the hat!!!
