Summer afternoons. I sit outside and send big thoughts up into the wide blue canopy of sky. Binoculars and journal by my side.
Buck & Wyatt rock the cat nip pot back and forth. Rub, munch, push.
The Splendid Table's How To Eat Supper
I regret that I did not stop take the time to stop shoveling this sublime stack of tomatoes and fresh mozzarella into my face long enough to take a proper photo. Hello.
Go. Eat. Now.
A most satisfying summer supper. Let me just wipe the last of the olive oil from my muzzle and tell you about my latest Turkish flick.
STEAM: The Turkish Bath The street scenes have me dizzy with excitement to get to Istanbul. Loved the movie!

what’s that salad with hothouse tomatoes and basil and, for me at least, the balsamic vinaigrette? what is that? that’s not the whole name, is it?
What bugs me is when they serve it to you cold. It has to be room temperature, dammit!
I’m off to break out the cherry tomatoes, since I have no hothouse, and pop them into my mouth like M&Ms.
V. excited for your Turkey Trip! yay!

I have seen Steam…wonderful…
Also, do you watch ‘Man shops globe’?? I adore it…and Keith was in Istanbul in one recent segment.

scrumptious! and the food doesn’t look too bad either. did you grow the tomatoes — here in San Diego we have been held captive by the July Fickle Sky Syndrome with a marine layer that is cement solid, so my tomatoes are either covered with powdery mildew or half eaten by snails. but the sun did come out yesterday and today so I off to the beach and will buy some tomatoes later at Henrys.

Why are the kiddos having the first day of second grade in July? I’m confused. If you are teaching in July, when is your trip to Turkey? Cats aren’t the only curious ones.

I love that cookbook. One of my faves. One of my favorite podcasts too! I listen to it while I’m falling asleep. Sometimes it makes me so hungry I have to turn it off!
Loving the sneek peek of the new journal too.
I like the different road it looks like it’s taking.

Slice a mess o’ tomatoes, place on wide cookie sheet or jelly roll pan, coated with olive oil, salt and pepper (and any other embellishment).
Roast in 400º oven for 30 to 50 min (turn if you want to).
Go outside while the oven overheats the kitchen.
I doubt these will ever make it to a plate. Mine never do.
