Hey you, how are you this bright July day? You will be pleased to know that the summer train finally arrived in LA. It must be 150 degrees outside. Dry heat that will singe your nose hairs. I am undone. Completely.
We Californians are a whiny weather-centric lot. If the temperature moves upwards of 75ish, beads of sweat form on our brows. Move below 68 or so and we unpack the fur-lined parkas and snow boots. We can’t help it.
Photos from Susan’s house and garden. We drank sweet tea and lounged about. Discussed novels which take place in Istanbul. I have one on the way. Meanwhile Climates arrived from Netflix. The second I’m done typing this I’m going to lounge about in the air conditioning and watch it! I may need a daiquiri. And a nice pan of ice water in which my hot feet can rest.

I have the heat on. (sniffle)

Thank you for asking, Mary Ann.
Over here the weather can’t make up its mind. Chilly, then hot then the inevitable storms that build up after heat in central France. Have to unplug our computers and face the real rather than virtual world.
Not that MAM is virtual, you understand!

When it’s this hot I can’t hear.

You are a weather wuss!(just kidding) We had temps in the 90s here this week, with humidity to match. Now that’s what I call hot! The temps you talk about seem ideal to me, especially since it’s dry heat. Better not visit MN in either summer or winter, though our springs and falls can be quite lovely.

yes, a true californian does quite well between 70-75 degrees F! 😉 i, too, have my fur lined boots for those chilly days in the 60s and i’m soaking my feet in the kiddie pool when the 80s roll around! 🙁 i’ve been wondering when the summer heat would get here and BAM…mid-july here it is! and here it will stay ’til october! (i will still be in flip flops up here in nor cal!)

Mary Ann I love your blog posts also. Have you read The Snake Stone or The Janissary Tree both by Jason Goodwin? They take place in Istanbul and feature a eunuch detective. They are very good.
Also, where in the world are you getting those fab frames for your photos? I love them!

You have a wonderful way of putting words (as well as photos) together.

I know undone – I was undone yesterday! Such a heat wave in Europe…
But last night – we had rain. Thunder. Lightning. Rain.
What a blessing.
If you are undone now – you need to take some extra lacing along to Istanbul.

Hey, it is so hot here in Yuma, AZ that I believe I have begun having hot flashes.

Loving the magic doorknobs! Can you make a wish on them? It is heating up here too (at the foot of the Rockies)! Great tip on ice water foot bath….Might I suggest champagne as a beverage? I believe physicists have proven that when the tiny bubbles pop, a gentle breeze is created………

*snort* You’d never survive in Canada then! 😉 Our hot would be too hot and our cold, too cold. (I sound like Goldilocks!)
