I seem to find myself planning another adventure to a far away place.
To a continent I have never been.
To a city that is bustling.
Where it snows and looks like this:
Clever readers I’m sure at least one of you has visited this place.
Here you see 2 continents. I will be spending time on both.
Barbara Cannon says
Since I have read so many Instanbul guesses, I am hesitant to place my first thought – Panama Canal! Fun!
Fiona says
Definitely Istanbul! you lucky thing!
Catherine Aguilera says
I, too, am guessing Turkey, Istanbul. When are you going to go? Cuz I am going in September as well 🙂 woo hoo.

yeah, it’s Istanbul. wow.
Would you please take a picture of your passport pages and send the pics to me?
Thank you!
Chris says
Well, I immediately thought of Norway, but then… I don’t think their cities look like this, even Oslo, that bustle-r.
So.
Somewhere in Russia or Finland. But… that’s not a continental split, is it? no. Plus, it’s not icy enough for that far north, is it?
I’m going to go look at photos of Budapest. No, it can’t be Budapest. You’re saying there’s a break? hmmm… Well, I’m going to go cheat by looking at Russia (Asia) and then I’ll be back. Don’t go anywhere until you hear from me.
It’s going to make me angry if it’s Turkey. In fact, I may ask for my money back.
lilith says
It does not snow (usually) in Turkey… but the first photo looks like Turkey with the minarets in the background… I would say maybe Russia, and I thought I recognized the Praha tramway on the picture… but there’s no sea in Czech Republic… I would guess around Scandinavia…
marissa says
Not Norway. Lived there and don’t recall a body of water separating two continents. A lot of posts say Turkey….Is it confirmed? I was thinking Finland/Russia or Finland/Estonia. Thanks for the mystery. Going to pull out an atlas later!
Susie LaFond says
thinking you will be having an awesome and grand adventure and I can’t wait to hear about your travels!!!!!!!!
Liv Möller says
You are most definately coming across the Atlantic, through the Medeterranian sea and to the separating strait between Europe and Asia. Just hope the Icelandic ashes will not stop you. Whish I could be there with you, but alass. Have a Perfect stay in both continents.

Ahhh…Turkey. It is a wonderful place to visit. I haven’t been there in years, but I loved my time there.
The two continents? Asia and Europe almost touch right there on the Bospherus diving Istanbul.
I predict that you will take some of your favorite photos there.
Sue McGettigan says
Clueless, the trams made me think of Melbourne but certainly no snow there at Christmas 🙂 If it’s Turkey I’m jealous, I’d love to go there!

Hey Mary Ann – sometime in the last month in the New Yorker there was an article about a chef that was reviving traditional Turkish food. Love traveling through your blog!
Roberta says
I thought it might be Pauge because of the people using umbrellas in the snow…lol I haven’t seen that since I live in Italy. And to be honest I didn’t know that it snowed in Istanbul…who knew…have fun…you are so brave and lucky.
Maureen says

I believe others have got it, but I have to add that I was in Tiberias, next to the Sea of Galilee this week. My hotel balcony overlooked the sea and the sunrise was simply magnificent! I thought of you as I wandered the streets. The farms were blooming with all kinds of great things including fields and fields of blooming sunflowers.
The ethnic groups here live in peace even amidst the fighting around them in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Golan Heights. The people were lovely! The little streets offered many sights and sounds unique to that part of the world, and it seemed like a place you would like. Think about it for another adventure!
Vicki in Michigan says
Istanbul!
One of my friends just got back fromthere………..
Can’t wait to get a glimpse of your visit!
Pat P says
I love a good mystery. Constantine would be proud. I’m already looking forward to the travel journal!
Spindelmaker says
Istanbul! Hagia sofia and the Blue Mosque gave you away. Its such a beautiful city, you´re gonna absolutely love it. You must see the underground water cathedral right next to the Hagia sofia, it is so special. Well, Hagia Sofia too, it is a very sacred place. Take some time away from the group, just to feel the spirit.
and the bazaar of course. It is huge! And busy. Try to get to the “Afghan street”. They´ ve got lots of vintage treasures there, not just the newly made in china . like at the entrance. Oh, you´re just gonna love it!
See if you can find the Kybele Hotel in the old city, by Hagia Sofie again, and have tea there. It´s a small hotel with over 4000 lamps hanging from the ceilings in all the rooms. It is really a 1001 nights experience!
Have a safe trip! 🙂
Kathy in Utah says
Gotta be Turkey. And I’m jealous! That’s one place I would love to see and experience. I hope it is Turkey and I hope it’s great.
Lelainia says
I was going to say Turkey as well, because of the first pic, but the snow one looks like a European local like Brussels or Norway…
karen says
that looks awfully like my hometown Istanbul 🙂
