Continuing to practice random acts of tomfoolery in the art room. Pure hits of narcotic bliss. One after another.
No outcome in mind when I start except a good time. My inner 2nd grade craft monkey is practically stuttering with excitement. Playful exploring. Is there a better drug? I don’t think so. Naturally while I’m getting busy with the wood panels, my emotions run the gamut. I pretty much flip back and forth between these 2 headlines:
LA Art Genius Stuns the ARt World
and
Imbecilic Talentless Crackpot Hack Needs a New Hobby

oh, come ON.
My brother once said to me that the highest compliment he can pay a movie that’s supposedly a comedy is if he laughs out loud while he watches it by himself. Because that almost NEVER happens.
Reading your post, I laughed until my eyes teared up.

First time I asked hubby for an opinion on my painting he said…..hhhmmmmm, honey looks like an oak tree at midnight!!!!!!!!! I laughed so hard and since he never failed to reuse a line that brought a good laugh …..everything I ever showed him was ‘an oak tree at midnite!’ Someday my reviews will say AMAZING OAK TREE ARTIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope to show next to the LA ART GENIUS!!

Sorry, you can’t have the second headline as I have that one all locked up!!! However, at this point I have so much invested in this hobby, I can’t afford a new one!! Your panels, travel journals and your visual journals just ROCK my world!! You stick to the “hobby” you have because you are so good at it. Stick with teaching us your techniques as well!! You are an awesome teacher!

You have no idea who lurks, but lurking I have been for many weeks now. You had me at “flinging off my bra”. I think that was at the beginning of your vacation. A girl who feels all of it, sees all with a quirky eye, and is not afraid to say so. My kinda gal.

I’m thinking you need to teach a class on how to make these panels – they are just lovely.

I’m going with the first one but adding that I get to bask in the glory of said artiste…smooches

I am smiling and grinning and want to bottle up and take a nice hit off that wild recipe you just brewed up…Yummmy, good time fun. You never fail to make me grin. So when do you open the doors to your crack pot club?…I think I’d fit right in, but seriously girl those are rockin panels and I do think you are a genius at play. So just keep doin what you’re doin!!!!!

Hahaha – I love those two headlines. Mine teeters around the 2nd pretty much all the time, but it’s still fun to learn. And experiment. I am finding new things to experiment with now, looking at everyday objects so differently. For instance, I got a HUGE Bloomie’s ad the other day. 32 pages of 9 x 12 each. I started to throw it away and then realized it’s perfect for playing. So I’m covering all the pages in gesso and then I’m just going to play with paints and collage and see what turns out. Why not, right?

Oh, Mary, don’t be so hard on yourself–these are great! I think you WILL STUN THE ENTIRE ART WORLD (not just LA!)
The important thing is that you are having fun! *Sherri*

How ’bout “LA Needs a New Hobby: Crackpot Hack Art Genius Stuns the Imbecilic Talentless ARt World”.
A little word spaghetti all spun around in a bowl.
So I’m totally in love with your panel play. You could make lovely wooden paddles to keep the monkeys in line…or for them to keep YOU in line…whichever is most needed. Punishment has never stung so sweetly.

You always inspire me and make me laugh simultaneously.
I love this: “No outcome in mind when I start except a good time.”

“Sanity is the playground for the unimaginative.”

Yay for play!

I couldn’t have described those two headlines running over here any better than that!
It looks good for a minute, then, not so much. Then best thing ever, then I show my husband asking him, “Is this anything?” his answer: no.

Love it – all of it – art and your comments. LOL
