Suede Buttons. That’s her name. She was waiting for me when I got home.
Fortune has smiled down upon me. And not only with hibiscus blooms. On Monday I got my assignment for the new school year which begins July 6th. I didn’t get what I requested, I got something better. I landed on A Track. A Track’s year doesn’t begin until August 18th. So even though I just returned from vacation on May 11th, when the last day of the school year rolls around on June 26th I am beginning another vacation. This time it is 7 weeks long. Yes, I’m excited. Yes, it’s ridiculously fabulous.
Excuse me while I pause to bray loudly like a donkey out my open window.
This spells G o o d N e w s for all my muchachas pre-registered for the upcoming Stencilry class. Instead of beginning on July 10th, we’ll start 1 week early on July 3rd. For those of you waiting for Stencilry 2 this is also good news. I now have a good chunk of time to devote to writing my PDF’s and rolling out the video production.
Okay. I’ve got flowers to stare at, report cards to complete, and monkey business that needs my attention.

Andrea #1 In the same district – LAUSD – there are 3 different systems. traditional calendar like you have, 3 track, and 4 track. i’m on a year round 4 track system. tracks A,B,C,D – we revolve on and off track because all of the tracks do not fit in the school together at the same time. we have the exact same # of school days 180 and the same # of days off just reconfigured to suit our tracks. well. except for the concept 6 3 track system that i USED TO BE PART OF. this was really fantastic! 163 longer school days and 2 months off every 4 months. amazing but true. I did that for 3 years. then we switched to 4 track. the goal is for everyone to be on a traditional calendar which starts in september and ends in june, 3 week break at x-mas, and 1 week spring break.
it puzzles everyone.

HAPPY for extra time with the videos! I am moving and sure could use it…hopefully will be somewhat settled by the 12th all my art supplies have been safely transported already – you know, P R I O R I T I E S – nothing else moved, just my art supplies (and beloved books)!
Patiently awaiting Stencilry II.

Oh thank you for extending the videos. My last day of school is Tuesday. I can
catch up until I start to travel myself. Mary Ann, I don’t understand how the school year works in L.A. What is A Track etc? Doesn’t the entire district have breaks
at the same time? In my district (Parma City Schools a suburb of Cleveland), we
go from late August until early June. Enlighten me please. It sounds really interesting.

I CAN catch up then…fantastic…love your new timetable…

Nothing better than vacation, which I am enjoying right now, in Seattle. Got up here on the Coast Starlight. Loved it.
You have the best way of describing how you feel… braying like a donkey, gotta remember that one.

What amazing news and Congrats!! Our district is deciding to reorganize and all the instructional specialists have to interview for a spot in a new “area”. I too am actually looking forward to the challenge and hopefully I will get the area I have been recommended for.
Your hibiscus is gorgeous, very unexpected color. Soft and muted…love it.
