As always during a period of psychic chaos I consulted Sun Tzu.
Amid the turmoil and tumult of battle, there may be seeming disorder and yet no real disorder at all; amid confusion and chaos, your array may be without head or tail, yet it will be proof against defeat.
I have thusly concluded that I am exactly right in abandoning preparations for the long list of personal and professional tasks I must accomplish within the next 2 weeks and instead set about construction of an 8 by 8 book. I've been wanting to find a good use for last year's giant calendar which was printed on ultra heavyweight cardstock. I'm thinking of a utilitarian coil binding and 48 pages of perfect squareness to hold 48 pages of pure collage. More on this idea as it develops, but for now…I have paper to cut and some must-see-tv to watch while I do it.
You've seen these, but not side by side.

What’s an array and how do I know if mine has a head and/or a tail or not?

I think I know where you can get those pages bound in a very utilitarian way that is if the are not super hero ultra thick.

I like making journals with coil bindings – there is something about that plastic coated wire spiral that feels satisfying. I made my current one using brown paper inserts which hold newspaper ads. The idea was better than the reality (as often the case) the paper is very absorbent – great color & texture but flimsier than it felt as a separate sheet.
Eager to see the big square pages (and their source stock)

squares are divine, especially in (recycled) journal form! I could stare at your pages for hours 🙂

Square pages are intriguing – i made some up from lining paper (plain wallpaper)which are about 10″ square – have painted backgrounds on them, but not gone much further yet. Will watch this blog for inspiration!

oh, it’s sposed to be seen more times.
Here’s the thing: journaling time now. Inner turmoil time is for when you can’t find your best scissors. That’s why I have several best scissors. You want one?
