Horsing around in the big book of collage. Reading. Making mosaics of things we'll see and do on the next voyage of discovery. I've never been here before, but did, as a child live in the country next door. Go on. Take a guess.
A southern city. A city at the same time
burning and cool that contains in the horizon the promise of the sea
and the salted wind sweeping the hills.
– Simone de Beauvoir
p.s. that is not the Mediterranean in the distance.
Yes, I already know it’s Portugal. I was there a year and a half ago. Beautiful mosaics……everywhere. You must check out Sintra and go up into the castle. My friend Isabel from a-room-of-one-s-own.blogspot is Portugese from Lisboa and would be happy to give you some pointers, I’m sure.
ooh! ooh! pick me pick me! I know where it is!
It’s Mandolinia!
That’s where you’re going, isn’t it?!
okay, I’ll keep thinking…
Lisbon! The Simone de Beauvoir quote gave it away! Oh, you lucky, lucky lady….not that you don’t deserve it, you understand, but oh, my. Lisbon. Sigh. Now I’m going to have tile envy fron your photographs, right? Just like I have lantern envy after all your pretty shots of Chinatown. Do take lots and LOTS of photos. I may never get to Lisbon so I need you to document the city for me.
Ok, totally off the subject check out TimHolltz.typepad.com. He has one stamp that TOTALLY looks like your sunray stencil!!!! He owes your royalties dear! Make him pay!!!
Lisbon, for sure. We just got back….a few details on my blog of early January if you’re interested.
You’re a lucky duck, for it’s a great place to explore. And of course, you LOVE steps, don’t you 😉
Where you goin?
Did you love yesterday?
today wasn’t too bad, neither.
Chile ! That’s it, isn’t it?!? Damn, I’m good!

I KNOW I’m right and Mary Ann, come pick up what’s yours over on my blog post today.
Brazil?
I haven’t looked at the other comments but I’m guessing TRIESTE? If that’s a photo of James Joyce, I know he lived a while there and Trieste is on the Adriatic.
Say I’m right, Mary Ann!!
You’re such a tease. Is that San Miguel Allende? no, the ocean is there … hmmmm … well it looks plenty picturesque for photos galore, can’t WAIT to see the journal. I like surprises so I’m not pushing for the answer, here …
Perhaps Croatia? I have been to Dubrovnik! It is awesome and beautiful!
Looks like San Francisco to me. LOL
Peace & Love,

hmmmm….I’m also siding with those who vote for a beautiful place south of us…..hmm…I’m thinking maybe even spanish speaking? What do we win if we guess right? A ticket to join you?!?!?!
Cuba? Just a guess…since America is next to Cuba, relatively. 🙂
Where you lived circa 1964? not next to Portugal or Azerbijan…
I can hear gleeful, fiendish cackling near your computer…
Portugal. Lisboa I bet. ?????
Lisbon – the San Francisco of Portugal. Be sure to take a short train ride on a little day trip to Estoril and Cascais, too!
I’m also backing Portugal – and I think Azerbaijan DOES have a coast, on the Caspian Sea.
Portugal!

Asperger’s Syndrome!!!
Does it have an A in it?
Oh, it’s latin, isn’t it? Central America?
