More pictorials of my cruise through the city east of downtown. Over bridges, past murals, fading graffiti posters, across greenbelts, through tunnels, past ginseng warehouses, and all manner of urban lore.
Oh yes, even in LA, the eternal sunshine and technicolor hibernate for a few days or hours. Long enough to let in some of the milky light. Enough to remind us that it is winter.
Meanwhile back at Moss Cottage I’m still in hibernation mode. Barely stumbling out of my den to type these few words.
But even bears can get excited. Tomorrow is Super Tuesday after all. This she-bear is all aquiver with excitement. Wondering if the absentee ballot I cast a few weeks back will hit the jackpot. Oh Muchachos, I hope so!
Between that and Jane Austen Regrets on Masterpiece Theatre last night I’m almost ready to burst out of hibernation for good. Well…at least long enough to buy my ticket for the Amalfi Coast. Those 2 blissful weeks of Italian recreation are heading straight for me.
As I settle into these last couple of months of monkey wrangling my travel abroad will be restricted to these wonderous country stats. Stop with the eye rolling already. Some of us are more easily entertained than others.
This is my 200th post since last February when I began Dispatch From LA. I am stunned. It’s been a whirlwind of words and photos and art. If you’re thinking of beginning a blog…don’t think too hard. Just jump in and do it. I wish you great boldness and confidence. 200 posts ago I had no earthly idea where all the words and art were going to come from. I still don’t.

I have trying to rack my brain with what it takes to lure a bear out of hibernation. So I am thinking a martini with perhaps something honey in it. Perhahps I need to consult with Sister!

200 posts…and I have read every one of them at least 200 times 🙂
Every word and photo of L.A. takes me back to childhood and my Grandparents…
Every piece of art goes straight for the heart…
Thank you for carving out this long and winding road I can meander down…

conrats! I have been reading your posts for a long time. I love your journal and all your stencils…..well everything. I grew up in LA long ago so it is with love and lots of nostalgia that I enjoy your posts. I went to Washington Irving Jr. High almost in your neck of the woods and the bridge pictures are sooooo in my memories. I love LA!!!!

M.A.,
Congrats on this milestone–and major kudos on the latest addition you’ll need to make to your sidebar of “Published Here.” Of course I’m referring to your feature in “Artful Blogging, vol. 2” which I just received yesterday! Very cool!

Dear Mary Ann – I am loving these gorgeous bridges – as a northern country dweller your warm and exotic urban landscapes are a delicious treat – and I am in awe of how you present them – you inspired me to check my stats before commenting – 293 posts to date – wondering where it all comes from – so love these visits – and surely you will be sending Amalfi mail art!?!

Great photos and you beat me in number of posts. I think we started about the same week, but I was without a computer for a month due to my move across country.

Congratulations on your 200th post – which brings up a dreadful thought – will we be without you during your pleasure sojourn on the Amalfi Coast? Surely not!!! Please say you’ll be taking us with you via your laptop.

France came up on the pie chart!!!
You know, I never wanted to visit LA since Dionne Warwick sang that ‘LA is a great big freeway’ – she may have meant many things but I interpreted it as meaning a nothing place you rush through. Forgive me, I was young.
I love pictures of glimpses of architecture, take a lot myself. These are beautiful. You’ve taught me differently.
Congratulations on your 200th!
