it is hot and humid here in santa barbara. no jacket or shirt sleeves required for dawn beach excursions. i was hoping to feel a cool breeze at water’s edge, but no. not this time. still, the fiery sky is wondrous. the yellow clouds breathtaking.
today penny, syd, mary and i are gathering for an art date. i’m bringing my sketchbook from the previous post. so far i’ve got some golden kelp watercolored on a page. i’ll add more today. maybe some portraits will be called for. or not.
thinking about everyone in the devastating path of hurricane harvey and sending love.

I’m sighing with pleasure over your images, Mary Ann. My hop to New York looks to be a transitional thing. I’m still dreaming of California.
Looks breathtaking and awesome Mary Ann. Enjoy and enjoy some more. Have fun with those art girl buddies of yours. No doubt a wondrous time will be had! 🙂
Wow your pictures are so gorgeous!
great capture, photographically speaking
Thank you for your lovely photos, you always choose the best! ;o)
Yesterday when I was driving down upper State Street to the Orthodontist for my 2 girls it was 106 degrees!!!! Uggh, too too hot here in Santa Barbara!!! I hope you found a place with air conditioning to paint in your sketchbook. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 95. Stay cool and enjoy your sunrises.
no a/c up here off tunnel road mission hills. sweltering. feels less humid today, but it’s only 10:36 am
we californians are delicate flowers. ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Those are the prettiest and sky and water shots. Seaweed shapes and textures just beg to be sketched!
Dear Mary Ann,
Thank you for the lovely peaceful pictures. I have been in the path of that devastation for a week now and I can use all the peace and love I can get! And I am one of the fortunate… the home I live in is high and dry and the hospital in which I work is undamaged. The house we’ve had rented that we were going to sell, not so much… our poor renters had to be evacuated by boat! Fortunately, they had time and were able to put most all of their belongings out of harm’s way. Oh, and, glory be, I do have flood insurance unlike most. I will unfortunately be repeating the renovations that we just finished 2 years ago…
Enjoy your art day… I am contemplating another book on Stitchbookery. I cannot do anything regarding my other house because the water has not receded so… time to make art!!!
so sorry susan, but how wonderful that you have flood insurance. still…so much to clean up. 🙁 am thinking of all of you…
thank you Mary Ann!!!
Yes on the portraits and send me photos of each of you so I can pretend I am there.
Sunrise in Santa Barbara is one of the seven wonders of the world. In case you didn’t already know that. I just proclaimed it.
