greetings from lummi island gentle readers, where the great white watcher sends his regards. my eyes will miss finding his white-robed peaks on the horizon. he, the northernmost volcanic peak in the cascade range. the very last light of the sun finds him every evening and his snowy dome turns the most lovely shade of apricot then pale pink. divine.
today we found a sand beach with waves. waves! i haven’t seen waves on these washington beaches, but today i did. we walked and explored some large rocky tide pools. sister found me a perfect thick spiral shell. pure white. my fav beach collections are always the most bleached white treasures. i found a pottery shard and some thin pearly white shell fragments.
yesterday we went to deception pass state park and found a fantastic easy loop trail out onto the rosario headlands. turquoise waters, deception island in the distance with its towering pine forest, and orange madrone trees. stunning!
i’ve seen 4 eagles here on lummi island and today i spotted one on top of a pine tree. i heard him before i saw him. before i came here to lummi island i didn’t know the funny sound an eagle makes, but now i do!
blue dragonflies soar and dip right now, in the meadow in front of the cottage. a doe and her 2 fawns came for a visit last evening. also we saw a field of sheep. and a raccoon family crossing the road. and 2 or 3 cats.
i think if i found a small summer home to rent here on lummi island it would be grand. i will tell the great white watcher to dream of it for me while i am gone.
i’m so glad i finished all the work for STITCH*BOOKERY before i left LA. all i have to do is click “publish” on friday morn and class will begin! i’ve had several emails and concerns about it being a “live” class. all that means is lots of peeps are taking the class the same time as you. no showing up is required, but if you like to share, swap, exchange mailart and all that jazz you can do it easily. if you’re an introvert and don’t go for that chatty business it’s A-okay. you’re only as visible as you decide to be. registration is open until 8/4 and will reopen sometime in late october or so for another “live” session in late november.
see you soon. thanks for tuning in to another travel adventure. i like having you and your stories along for the ride.

Hello hello! Does this mean we can’t sign up for class during the period between live classes? Or perhaps it’s offered year-round, we just won’t be following along “live”. 🤷♀️🌸💕
Mary Ann Moss says
yes that’s exactly right. the first thing you mentioned…no sign ups in between sessions.
