yesterday’s watercolor play. this is a stillman & birn square sketchbook with heavy coldpress paper that i like v. v. much. .
it’s one of 4 sketchbooks i am currently working inside. since i’m on a sketchbook diet i’ve vowed to make or buy NO MORE until these are completed.
except that i’m dying for another big illustrated journal like this one, and all i have are smallish books left.
that was fun. i think i’ll do it again.
a fantastic performance and poem. oh me!
my apologies to all of you email subscribers who were flooded with 8 old posts from moi (!) yesterday. just a blog maintenance snafu. oops!
Mary Lawler says
Oh MAM ~ Loved the snafu! What a treat to see all those fun posts. Ditto on all the comments that came before ~ you can snafu and add extra inspiration any time.

No snafu for me… loved reading all those entries from time before I found your blog and subscribed. Love you travel logs. Very inspiring to me.
Especially enjoyed the poem read by Ruby Dee.
Deborah Pierro says
Mary Ann–I had to re-subscribe to be able to comment, but I’m glad it worked. I love all of your art, so there! With an ailing hubby I haven’t painted or drawn much, but I have a new 24 x 24 canvas that needs to be painted!
Mary Ann Moss says
me too… glad it worked
i’m certain painting will directly impact your husband’s health in a positive way.
as ruby dee would say GET TO IT!
Karen Goetz says
The only thing better than a photo of your journals, is a photo of the paintings of your journals. In love! Heart heart heart!
As far as the MAM SPAM goes….I rather enjoyed it!
Jane B. says
I enjoyed the snafu a lot! And seeing your old journals was also like seeing more old pals.
You should snafu more often.
We likeeee!
Mary Ann Moss says
when we’ve settled into our women’s beach side cottage compound we can do the snafu tango
Jane B. says
Oh yes! I’m waving at you from my cottage window to your cottage window in preparation.
Speaking of Ruby Dee, did you know that her son is a jazz musician? His name is Guy Davis; remember when I went to Bordeaux, France back in 2014 for hubby’s guitar workshop? Well that workshop was with Guy Davis. He’s very talented musician, and very personable but I didn’t know until later his connection to Ruby! She was not well at the time (passed away a few months later) and he was worried about her, but still played the jazz and blues like magic.

I think you should have a big journal if you want. 🙂
Love the poem. So powerful. Let’s TAKE it!

I actually loved all the deja vu posts, after I recovered from the shock of your apparent productivity…. what I was doing was making a cake for my granddaughter Layla’s birthday, putting my grandmother’s frosting between two of the three layers, getting reading to frost it all with my mother’s frosting, a seriously decadent family heirloom combo… xoxox

I was sitting at the mechanic’s today and was so happily entertained by your snafu; thank you for making a long wait bearable, Mary Ann! I finished there, went home, and made another touching diamonds journal from the Oh My Gouache class. I don’t comment much, as I prefer to be in the background, but I am so thankful for your posts. They inspire me and make my day.
Mary Ann Moss says
reminds me i need to have my oil changed!

ACtually, I found those old posts very inspiring this morning and I’m heading out to my studio to play with my visual journals. They came just after I made my way through the 2 journals I finished as a result of Sketchbookery and I find myself wondering why I’m not doing more of that. I mean, I understand the why (grief is insidious and mean) but seeing all that yummy stuff has me wanting more, so off I go. Thank you for continued inspiration, Miss Moss.
