Howdy, I'm Mary Ann Moss, the chimp at the helm of this ship. I've been blogging right here since 2007 and exploring the world & driving getaway cars since 1963.

Love both artists, but Harriet’s holds more mystery to me. Like you, I have questions about how/why she painted, and did she have aspirations, and who she was with or was she alone…etc. I wonder how the war affected her travels and thoughts? The fact that she seemed to have made the first sketchbook (both?), so that is intriguing! Was it a hobby, or was it her whole passion in life? A book could be written about her if all of the details were known. I also love her transparency of the watercolors. For me, the transparency of the watercolor, and use of light is what makes it so beautiful. The other artist is amazing also, for capturing in more detail, the locations, and keeping the colors pure and not muddy. Having worked some in watercolor,(not an expert by ANY means) I know that transparency, light and keeping the colors pure is quite difficult. Thank you for sharing both artists, Mary Ann. DROOL!!!!

P.S. I love that Marco uses both gouache and watercolor. Didn’t you think Harriet used gouache too? I thought I remembered you saying something about that…I forget easily.

Harriet is really good, but Marco is the master. I didn’t realize you were talking about two artists. Sorry!

She is quite a master, Mary Ann. But you are very good yourself! –Deb

Harriet’s are lovely but have to say Marco is the man. What amazing sketches. The light shimmers in them. Thanks for sharing!!
Mary Ann Moss says
well it’s not a comparison. marco IS a professional artist after all. harriet was most probably an untrained artist with no hopes or dreams of ever being broadcast on the vast interwebs.

Love them both! Especially nice to see the paintings of Prague. It’s a beautiful city and I hope to go back a third time one day.

i look forward to visiting one day!
