just a hint of winter on its way this weekend. the clouds gathering in the high mountains and foothills. i can’t wait to see snow on those peaks. it’s been years since i’ve seen white covering the san gabriels, but it used to happen every winter up until the last few years. the temps don’t get cold enough at the low elevations to turn the rain into snow anymore and the rain doesn’t fall often enough. eventually this drought will give way.
with time and patience it will happen. we will wait.
drawing with ink and pen and watercolor in my sketchbook. lavendar, chrysanthemums, hibiscus. not as much time as i’d like. never enough lately. but the small shift in focus from schoolmind to sketchbookmind returns me to my senses.
hope you’re well. drifting across the sky in your hot air balloons, or paddling across calm seas. i’ll just be here. reading, writing, drawing. imagining snow falling and fog settling around moss cottage while i doze.

Wow what an incredible view Mary Ann. That is glorious. If we get snow (our last few winters have been wimpy) ‘I’ll happily blow some your direction. 🙂

Love the sketches! And interesting about your mountains and the absence of winter snow. Ninety-seven percent of all scientific agencies that have looked at global warming agree the situation is real and that it’s directly related to human behavior. So that makes it one environmental problem that we can actually do something about.
Since my cousin has been lobbying for me to move to CA, I’ve put LA on my cell phone weather app. This way, I can keep tabs on what’s going on out there. No rain!

thought of you when I saw this bit on the morning CBS news today: A teacher in Denver, CO gave her students a piece of paper with I wish my teacher knew……(students fill in the blanks…she posted some of the kids post it notes with the response on her FaceBook page, soon other teachers were doing the same with their students, now it’s gone global!!! I could just see this happening in your class. The teacher taught 3rd grade.
One child wrote: I thought I had more friends, but I don’t. Teacher read his note to the class and asked who wanted to be friends with him? All raised their hands. The interviewer of the kids asked the boy how he felt now, he said it was nice to have friends, sometimes you need a hug. the girl beside him said, “or a pat on the back, as she reached over to pat him. So sweet. It was so touching to see these little ones reach out to one another with affection and compassion. We could use a huge dose of that in today’s world.
