books glorious books.
i’ve been showing the kids photos of the packages, getting them excited for what comes next!
there’s quite a few steps and a few flights of stairs to get everything from moss cottage to my classroom, but i’ve got pack mule genes.
thanks a million times over for donating to my classroom wishlist. watch out for the heart-shaped smoke signals drifting your way.
today i walked in the room after dropping the class off for lunch and my first impression was, that it looked brighter, cheerier. better. i stopped for a moment in the threshold of the room and took it all in.
poco a poco. bird by bird. bit by bit. this is how we make a class. thanks for being a part of it. i distributed the writer’s workshop folders, composition books, and notebooks this week. each thing is so appreciated by these children.
i just wanted you to know that what you’re doing MATTERS.
whether you’ve donated to the wishlist or not, doesn’t matter. the stream of kind thoughts, books, comments, emails, etc., is powerful. it is real. i thank you for it.

I was kind of disappointed today when I went over to your wishlist to select some additional items and I saw -0-……..please consider leaving some things up there on an ongoing basis……I would like to continue gifting from time to time.

I thought that these packages were all being sent to the school so you would not have to pack them all into your car and call on the pack mule genes!! Oh MY !!!
This is all so very exciting!!!Thank you for letting us be a part of adding excitement to the lives of these kids!!

Haha, you need a bigger cottage for all those packages!
Love seeing what is coming to you and your kids. Feels good to give a little bit back to you for everything you share here!

I giggled when I saw all those stacked boxes with the Amazon Smile on them. You have to wonder what the UPS driver was thinking…right? Too bad they don’t know that this is what happens when folks rally behind a small group of children. Because that’s what it’s all about. Investing in a child’s imagination with visual images and stories that spark something that resonates within. Providing them the tools needed to write down their hopes and dreams…their stories and words.
To love your neighbor as yourself Jesus said. I’d say a whole lot of love came to your class. That makes my heart smile.
Blessings to you and the children this coming school year…xoxo

As a retired teacher (ending with 3rd grade) I love, love, love seeing this! Writers/Readers Workshop was the best teaching I ever did. And an Amazon wish list? Almost makes me want to in-retire! Now I have lots of time for art journaling. A good trade off. Love reading your posts!
