the title of this picture is: where i go to the market to buy pink lady apples and come home with a papaya melon. the sweetest melon i’ve ever tasted. so good!
i also picked up a few other things including a big bunch of mint.
i found the towel these are resting on in a swedish second-hand store.
behold my carrot, sweet potato, orange, ginger juice.
it may not look good, but it is. v.v. good.
i decided that i needed an extra dose of phytonutrients every day. today i made beet, apple, celery, lemon juice. you cannot imagine how pink or delicious it was.
here’s what else i’ve done creatively, besides make juice.
school started today for the students. i was an information dispenser and later was assigned to help out in a couple of classrooms. it’s fun to peek inside other teacher’s classrooms and see how they do things. until i have a permanent placement at another school, i’ve been assigned to help a teacher in a giant class of 36 students. the nice part of this equation is i don’t have to do the planning, i’m more like an aide. much less responsibility. it won’t last, and i wouldn’t want it to, but i’m going to enjoy it while it does!
i also got to see my students from last year. !!! that was the best part of the day. one of my former students greeted me by calling my name loudly, then hugging me by pushing the crown of his head into my waist and resting there for a moment. those students’ regular teacher is back this year and i like her very much.
that’s all the news that’s fit to print.
oh wait…i started a new book. this one… enjoying it so far!
if you’re reading or doing anything good i know you’ll tell me.

Hi ! you did not mentioned if the girl you told us about had seen a mermaid or not … I discovered one – and that is “pure juice” of creativiity : i was snaking a pizza with pepper oil trying to improve my watercolors technique with “lavis” – The oil spoilted everything splashing around BUT i saw i could create an evanescent creture from this disaster. Colors : blue and green so i decided to paint a mermaid. As you can imagine, she was the most beautiful i ever saw … especially when i grabbed the watercolor paper and tape it on my “cuisine” window. But then … you must let her go! the oil is highly NOT recommended in your sketches book, believe me !!!! Maybe one day or another, i will improve this technique again. The result was like stain glass !!! Enjoy.

I have added The Children to my reading list. I am currently reading the Miniaturist- just heard about it on NPR- historical novel based in the Netherlands- really good.
Seeing students form the past is the BEST!! – Gives me goose bumps thinking about your tender head butt!!
Your juices sound divine. Do you use a blender or a Nutri bullet- that is what I have or do you have a Vitamix? Curious!!

I’m rereading (possibly for the third time) “Brideshead Revisited.” Just finished watching the 13-hour miniseries, which kicks the sh*t out of the 2008 movie. And it has Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews. Anyway, the book–I can’t get over how good it is!
Luscious looking strawberries! I have strawberries on my cereal every morning.

REDEMPTION ROAD by John Hart. a mystery, its a tough one to read because the good people are getting crushed. I have the book Pennie recommends, too…..on my side table, maybe next. It really must be rewarding to get those hugs from last year’s students…..I hope my kids did that for special teachers….

Thank you for sharing that bit about your student greeting you so warmly. It was the highlight of my long day. My dad was an elementary school principal–very kindhearted and loved the kids. It made me think of how cute it was to see them react to him when school was letting out. Thanks for reminding me of those sweet memories. 🙂
Your blog continues to bring me a lot of joy and smiles. Your art, your humor, your photos….xx

We are juicers here in this little cottage. The Ginger sounds great . Give it a M A M name.
Today we had blueberries, fage yogurt, apple juice, fat cherries, handful of uncooked oatmeal(not instant)12 oz of shredded carrots and mango. Makes 3 large servings and not a hunger pain till lunch time. All fruit products are frozen, organic from Costco on the cheap.

Thank you for the post. Love all our fresh, delicious fruit. My daughter and I juice but I haven’t found a”just right” blend for me yet. I need something more on the sweet side, but when we make it, I drink it!
I envy your career choice. I love children and although it’s hard, dealing with the little ones all day while planning it out and making it interesting, that love you get in return is what life is all about.
Thank you for the book suggestions.
I loved all of your journal pages. What a joy.
Have a great day.

How wonderful to touch base with your students from last year, you had such rapport with them. Love this drawing of Carol, very true likeness.
Her blouse looks like black widow spiders are taking over though??

Octopus on Carol shirts?!
Just finished reading “A Man Called Ove”. I cried at the end. The good kind of crying.
