at the sunny land’s gift shop we bought a box of typography cards – vintage letters from the 1930’s pretty right? you can see my version down below.
and my cat. well not mine. someone’s. from instagram. a cute pet cat. i painted him. and the pie. i think about pie a lot.
it was a warm sunny day out here in palm springs. this is early on, before the table overflowed.
pie after i added a crazy background.
i like the “before” version better.
wish i had a piece.
and a pool. the older i get the more i need water immersion therapy. ya know?
once you do one cat, you want to do another one.
i plan to do an entire cat series. and make cat t-shirts, cat calendars, cat cards, cat totes. a whole cat empire.
by that i mean i might make one more and then forget all about cats. or not.
we’ll see.
hope you’re happily immersed in a creative bustle of your own. our art retreat ends mañana. we’re a little sad. bah.
see you soon!

This looks amazing! I have no idea why I don’t go to Palm Springs more often, especially in winter. LOVE the cupcake series, too. Oh, btw, I decided to keep the kittens! These are the first kittens I’ve had since becoming an adult (of sorts) and I don’t know why I haven’t had cats before. They are HILARIOUS! They are called Sebastian and Leopold and I absolutely adore them. I can’t imagine not having cats now. Really enjoying your blog. Best, Alice

you’re all so lucky to have each other and to go on art retreats.
just started your sketchbookery online course and oh I find it not so easy because I saw some results and I can never reach those standards…sshhht I know what you are going to say and you are right!!!
my aquarelleset needed an update and I’ve just bought some sumptuous colours, of which turquoise green and phtalo rouge (sennelier) will be my favourites.

So, so jealous… Palm Springs, a pool, and girlfriends… and paint!
I am finally painting in my art journal, but don’t feel comfortable with showing and telling yet, however you are encouraging me to get there!

when you’re ready show & tell with other creatives who GET IT. sometimes comments from regular people can thwart your early art instincts. i’m cheering for you. GO GO GO 🙂

Oh I am so loving this post with all the sunshine, flowers, cats and water. Oh yes and the PIE!!!! You guys have so much fun. I have to get back in the swing of things. Been to busy decluttering. It always looks like I make a bigger mess than when I started. 🙁 I need pie and sunshine. Thanks for sending some my way.
