my 2 days at the beach were A+
blissed out on sunrise & sunset. i posted some beach videos on instagram, if you want to hear some wave action go there.
i found a cute little studio for $99/night on airbnb that was close to the beach and came with a hottub. you can add a price filter and find something in every price range. which is cool. this one was quiet & private. i’ll return when/if i can find a spot in their booked calendar.
i’m factoring regular beachtime into my 2016 plans.
i had a wonderful playdate with sharron at the ranch. we walked through the orchard and collected fallen avocados. eventually winding our way back to the big dining table for watercolor play. and finally a timeout for a luscious lunch with sharron’s grandaughter layla at crushcakes. if you get up to carpinteria check them out. the menu makes it very difficult to decide what to eat. oy! they have giant wooden panels on the wall that are painted, lettered, and collaged. gorgeous! plus of course if you go you might get lucky and layla might join you for lunch and give you her giant leftover kale, goatcheese, strawberry, chicken salad. which, you can take back to your studio and eat for dinner along with your leftover turkey panini. if you’re really lucky sharron will add a piece of ranch cake to your leftover bag.
also you might run into the #carpsunsetseekers (IG) who celebrate sunsets together. a diverse group of peeps who often gather at sunset to admire the sky. i studied sharron’s camera technique closely hoping to steal some of her trade secrets.
here’s the secret: don’t IG your picture until sharron does. she has a knack of waiting till the exact perfect moment of water & sky harmony. i was trigger happy and posted mine too soon.
naturally, there were plenty of extras…
magnificent!
i also had time for a renaud’s lunch + looooong beach walk with mary stanley who’s teaching in carpinteria this saturday. right HERE
i leave on sunday for a new adventure.
stay tuned!
