here are the very last of my guatemala sketchbook pages. first my notes sketchbook with the thin pages – the one that went everywhere with me…
in all of its messy scribbly imperfection.
and now the 5×8 moleskine that mostly hung out at the house…
the san francisco church had thousands of small photos of people who’d made petitions to san pedro. so many people. so many hopes & needs.
now that i see these photos of both sides of the pages i wish i’d have taken them all that way.
now i’m back to my daily sketchbooks. drawing little things i find on morning walks. that sort of thing.
see you soon.
The words of Sid, so good! The painted lined pages with writing, love it! And the yellow iris’, wonderful!
Love all your pages but especially love the Syd Vicious reference!!
Yet another great way to drink my morning coffee and take a virtual trip to some where I will probably never go. I just love reading what you jot down next to your sketches and can only imagine that any trip taken with you, or time spent with you period, would be spent with tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks. Your bright spirit shines through all that you paint and write.

Wow! Wonderful, stunning work. Such remarkable memories you manage to make visual. I would love to be able to see these in person!

Just wonderful Mary Ann. I was one of the lucky ones in Katie’s class this past weekend.
My first exposure to the magical lady. (I mentioned her & pics in Sat – Tues blogs)
I told Katie I had read your blog about you all and your beach revelry, she said it was wonderful.
I especially like your hillside sketch. I has similar feeling to the textile landscapes from Guatemala that I’ve seen. It is very cheery.
I also admire the liveliness of your sketching and its immediacy. I need to draw faster.
How fabulous I love all of these so bright and cheery and love how your technique is evolving…the first one is my fave the church ,mountaintops with the cross beautiful….oh and love that you darkened the font in the comment section thanks …
