here’s that bedroom chandelier i sketched in my travel journal. i enjoyed staring up at it each night while i lay in bed, imagining where else it had hung, and who else had admired it.
in a burst of unprecedented speed yestereday, i came very close to reaching the travel journal finish line.
i found an ancient pack of glossy photo paper in my supply closet, so i revved up the printer and got busy. nothing takes care of a blank travel journal page better than a good old-fashioned photo. you heard it here first.
i’ll be taking pics of the rest of my pages and showing you what i mean soon.
one of the best parts of my trip to sweden is the friendship i’ve made with ingrid. after kindergarten making friends isn’t so easy anymore. and well, if you prefer the company of birds, trees, and cats to humans that doesn’t help either, but every once in a while someone unexpected comes along to change your anti-social mindset. we’re even texting each other! those of you who know my long standing hatred of the telephone will find this shocking. she sends me videos of moppa, so i can see how my dog is doing.
everyone should bring home from sweden at least one souvenir by way of china. v. important.
i’m pretty sure you’ll never want to travel with me if you like bolting out of bed at the crack of dawn with your guidebook in one hand and your list of must-see sights in the other. NOT that there is a single thing wrong with that. heck no.
my sister dottie and i are what are commonly known as lollygaggers. we operate on our own timetables and are immune to all forms of cajoling to move our arses into gear. except she is way worse than me. think of us like mules. the stubborn kind.
this could be annoying to the real movers and shakers of the world. v. annoying.
unless you’re really patient, like my other sister. she’s like a mule whisperer. sometimes she even makes me want to leave the house before sunrise. usually that involves some sort of enticement with food.
just think, if we leave the house early enough we can stop for sausage bisquits & jam at that cute little restaurant with the red-checked curtains!
we’ll just see how amenable i am to that in a few weeks when we head off on our great california road trip slash tidepool exploration.

From one lolly-gagger to another, I am really, really enjoying your drop down menus. Between those and the related posts at the end of posts, it’s easy to meander, mosey about and get lost (in a very good sort of way).

I’m enjoying your trip to Sweden so much, seeing it all through your eyes. I visited Nordiska Museet on a trip to Stockholm with my mother years ago and enjoyed it immensely, even though I had to rush through it. My mother refused to come inside on such a lovely day, and even though she insisted I take my time, I felt I had to be quick about it. I have always meant to go back on my own to savour it – thanks for reminding me!

Sheesh! I’ve not visited your blog for over a week, whenever you posted you broke the internet…like a silly ninny, I thought it was STILL broken. Yikes.
Anyway I’m glad I finally wished up and found the new place which seems quite strange at first, but I”m sure I’ll get used to it.

more cool pages and peeky peeks. Love em all. I am a take my time kind of gal, but as you know if I am only given a few hours time in a place I want to see, then I am gonna jam pack as much as I can get into the few hours I have, but you’d be surprised at how unrushed I can be doing so. I’ve learned to get a lot of mileage into a few hours and squeeze every last nano second out of them. I don’t like to hurry, I am a lingerer, a wanderer…….if I have to honor someone else’s time table, I give myself a lot extra wiggle room so I can still pace myself on my terms… I just don’t see the sustainability of ‘rushing’ doesn’t work for me e…. I will just sit here and take a good long gander at all the details of your pages. 🙂

From the comments, it looks like your followers are a tribe of lollygaggers. I, myself, have been known to slip into reverse, especially in bookshops. I don’t personally know any mules, but the donkeys who live down the street are lovely.

I do believe we are kindred spirits. Or mules. I have stopped going places with friends because I always end up doing everything they want and nothing I want. So, I prefer going alone. I guess I could just assert myself more…
Loving your travel journal art and collected treasures. I adore that pattern thingie in red! Too cool! It’s so fun to see how you collect everything and your thoughts and put them all together. A real visual treat!

And I didn’t close my parentheses. Oh crumb, that’s plural. Pet peeves. Oh well, you get me. 🙂

I hate telephones, too. Just send me an email. Or a blog post.
Happy weekend with your sketchbook.

Ha!
I too, am of the snail-paced variety. And I am married to an up-early, go-getter who follows prescribed walking tours at a break-neck pace! I’m left in his wake only to be found outside a second hand shop or paper store; he’ll have to circle the block because I’m like a magpie when I see old & unusual ceramics/hand stitched textiles/books I can’t read/collectibles I didn’t know I needed. It is our one marital challenge, our opposite dispositions. Lucky for him I am STELLAR, and I put up with his folly. (But a class in mule-whispering wouldn’t kill him).

Thanks for Chapter 7 of the Sweden trip. Can’t wait to see your tidepool sketches from your next trip!

Ah. Lolly-gaggers. Stubborn mules. Sloths! You and Dottie are sloths! (As am I….) You probably think lounging about in your nightwear, drinking some beverage of choice, nibbling on coffee cake whilst you add the coup de grâce to your latest page in your travel journal is a legit way to spend some time in the morning. Well, ME, TOO!
I am loving this slow unfolding of all the juiciness of your latest journal with lovely photos and text. It almost makes me want to get up, get going and see what your latest installment might be. But, I sloth. I get there, but slowly…..
