we visited a true garden of cacti delight while in palm springs. a wonderland of textures, shapes, color. if you get out here on a regular basis you’ve probably been to the moorten botanical garden, but if not, mark it down on your “must do” list. clark moorten the proprietor is a delight. california’s beloved huell howser broadcast from here on more than one occasion so you know the quirk factor is going to be high, and the fancy schmancy factor low. i visited last nearly 20 years ago so it was good to come back and ramble around. i picked up a couple of little cacti from the nursery for the garden.
i’m going to miss paddling around the warm pool in the mornings and dipping into the bubbling jacuzzi every night. it does comfort me though knowing palm springs is only a couple of hours east.
p.s. carol & i saw air force one (!) at the airport this morning. president obama was on his own retreat in PS this weekend!

Some of those cacti remind me of little Dr. Seuss characters!

I always love looking at your photos, Carolyn, and sorry I missed this nursery when passing through PS in December…thanks, for the tip…will check it out next time I’m in the area. 😉
Not sure if you ever posted what kind of camera you use but would you mind sharing which one you use? I’m impressed with the detail it picks up.
I too look forward to seeing if you paint any of those cacti…they are fantabulous!

What a curious but delightful gathering of cacti. Some of them look other worldly… I’m in awe of them. It’s lookin at living art, your garden makes me feel that way too…and the more curious and unique the better, nothing like that growin’ in my frosty little corner of the globe at the moment, just cold, we can’t even say we’ve really got snow…Boston has seemed to become a snow magnet and I would be happy to take some off their hands….happy that you had another enjoyable and hootin’ tootin’ weekend. 😉

Oh Airforce One, I thought that was Carol’s ride home!
Isn’t PS a couple of hours EAST of you?
Glad you had fun — looking forward to seeing what mischief you three got into!
