how the fucking hell did you get a bird to sit still for a shot, those buggers.
“OH MY GOD,” I said. “That is the greatest drawing in the history of drawings!” And after a brief scroll-back-up to check and make sure that doily wasn’t ice cream (it wasn’t), I had to scroll back down here to tell you so. Do you use a sumi brush for those bold strokes as well?
In the first photo the little peeking bit of orange is quite alluring. All full of promise and intrigue!

Monday -3 degrees when I went to town this morning! love your figurines, especially the birdies. and as always love seeing all your sketches. I will envey the three of you on your nice, warm, fun retreat.
Being an avid birder, I love the birdy figurines. The bold black lines are very dramatic.
We’re enjoying very warm temps for the high desert….70F today, running around in shirt sleeves. This is the warmest Jan. I can remember since moving here…but we have Feb. to deal with soon. Things change dramatically around here.

Cute. My new-used brass duck with umbrella now sits beside old aquarium froggie, who sits beside pink flamingo salt shaker who sits in toad planter who sits among many cats some of whom sit on a twig bench. Just so you know.
Good morning Ms. 83 degrees !!!! love your post (all of them really : ) but your figurines are wonderful : ) glad you’re having warm weather – ours has been nice so not complaining : )
BTW – your 3rd winter retreat looks just fabulous !!!! we use to go to PS in the winter when we lived in LA – but now we live our “retreat” no need to leave, hahaha : )
