i've sunk deep into the goldfinch, after putting it down for the last 6 months, and i'm not rising for air until it is finished. (no spoilers please)
my favored reading spot is outside in the twilight with my twinkle lights glowing on the patio and the moon overhead. speaking of the moon, if you're in LA you can catch wednesday's blood moon in full eclipse at 4 a.m. i caught it in april and am not missing this one either. seeing it live is pretty special.
over and out pilgrims!

I read both of those books and couldn’t wait for both to end. Ugh.

Caught the entire blood moon sequence in April and it was worth the journey through the night. The moon looked like Mars – but in zoom mode! I really liked 90% of the Goldfinch, the last 10% was like slogging through marshy cow pastures, a lot of work but not much to show for it but the smell.

Wow! Great photos!

i’m headin’ out to view the moon in the early wee moments of the AM to watch this…gotta set my alarm, snuggle up and watch with glee and here is the thing, it’s F R E E and needs no internet, no wifi, nothing to plug in and no need to worry about identities being stolen, all one needs to share in the excitement is to get up, go outside and look up…no batteries required…

You know you had me at ‘outside at twilight among the twinkle lights’ right?

Wow, I LOVED The Goldfinch. It was like watching a high Speed Train aiming for a wall – I just could not stop. I had to limit my reading it to riding the Underground to and from work, otherwise I would not have slept until I finished the book.

I just finished Gone Girl. I don’t understand why all the hoopla about this book! Not one of these characters was likable!
Highly over rated in my opinion. Maybe I’m just too old. I have Goldfinch on my iPod…it’s been there for months, I’ll have to check it out since I’m now without a book on the side table.
I hope I don’t miss the eclipse this time around. Missed it in April.

I tried to read The Goldfinch too and abandoned it. Probably just weirdo me, I’m sure it’s just me – I’m quite often swimming against the tide of popular opinion with bestsellers – but it felt a bit pretentious to me and over written. Maybe I didn’t give it long enough? I’ve found that about myself, I’m a finicky reader. I’ll hate something and then pick it back up later and love it. Timing and finding the authors rhythm, I guess.
Let us know if you make it through to the other side!

I started Goldfinch a few months ago and also put it down. I hope you tell us how you fair. 🙂
4am huh? That’s early, but I might try as I missed it in April.
Hope you’re having a great school year so far!

I’ve been thinking about picking up The Goldfinch! A blogger I read was so-so on it, but a local artist recommended it glowingly on Sunday, and I think after reading this post I may just have to grab a copy.
