i've been reading non-stop since my last post, but today i'm poking my nose in another book.
the coffee is made, sketchbooks are open, watercolors have been sprayed, pens are out.
rustic desert hideaway booked for upcoming weekend under a dome of stars.
what's shaking in your neck of the woods?

Another thought: that desert hide-a-way looks very snaky to me. Yikes. Be on the lookout!

Wish trash day on my street looked that lovely!

I keep coming back to look at that first sketch – the one with the trash cans. Don’t know what it is about it, but it has certainly caught me.

I’m gonna dust off my wings and sweeop on over and join ya. It’s been that kind of crazy around here and I could use an escape. As always your sketches are lovely, love your street view…too adorable love it all Mary Ann!!!!

I love those tree shadows too, but I also really like the look of those trash cans up and down the street. Those frames you are doing are just too cool.

Wonderful tree shadows in that first sketch! And I love what you are putting in the small fra.mes

I had much the same sort of day. Tea instead of coffee. Did all my laundry while watching the Seahawks come unglued on the telly. Worked on an embroidery. Studied my Spanish, did my homework, made a huge vat of chili, cut hydrangeas for the yellow and white polkadot jug, watched Inspector Morse. Now I have bathed with my book, The Rathbones, and will now tuck into my fresh, crisp bed and read until my eyelids droop. Perfectly lovely day.
Happy you had one, too
XO

Really like the sketches, especially the one in the frames. Desert hideaway looks like when we used to have a place in the desert. I miss it. It’s wonderful, isn’t it, living in an area where we have ocean, desert and mountains so close. Not to mention a city.

Looking good, MAM! I’ve been working on putting together the most ‘bang for the buck in a small space’ watercolor travel kit that imagination can dream up. And drawing the ‘backyard gang’ (i.e. cardinals) to prove it works of course. An entire potential holiday in a 5.5 x 10.5 space, including quality paint, variety of high end brushes, and a journal. Change of underwear optional as no space in my adventuring kit – HAHAHA! (I kid, I kid…)

LOVE these sketches! and your colorful interpretation of the fish book’s decorative frames is just what I was needing for inspiration. In my neck of the woods I got a little sidetracked with doing a small portrait in my sketchbook planner, thankfully a small geranium I noticed while watering out back has beckoned me to sketch it giving me a much needed break from the portrait. But first I must tackle the leaves that have fallen from the heat before the rain sets in and makes the job impossible – AFTER I finish my latte’ of course! Happy Sunday!

Looks like heaven! I’m enjoying my final 37 hours in Barcelona and a quiet mountain/desert getaway sounds perfect. Traveling isn’t for wimps.

Is that a hot tub I see in the distance?

Looks like you’re all set for a good Sunday spent dabbling with paints, books, coffee. Isn’t that just the best way to spend a fall day?
Where is this desert hideaway? Near Victorville? Yucca Valley? You always find the neatest places to get off to.
