i finished the travel journal and i'm putting it up on the shelf with the others. i DID end up adding photos. the only reason was because sometimes you just wanna be DONE with something. and in my mind, being DONE is better than being perfect. well perfection doesn't exist but you know what i mean! the truth is, by the time i'm in the final stretch of the travel journal i am ready to throw the whole thing out the doggone window. i have trouble moving on to new things if i've got something else simmering away. but…i am good as done.
i got sidetracked with making 7×7 blurb books. one is devoted to amsterdam, but i'm also working on documenting my entire sabbatical thus far.
but right now. right this minute. i have a date with VERA. i wish i could remember which one of you told me about her…i am hooked. she's fabulous and the series takes place in northumberland. the scenery is gorgeous. naturally it makes me think of future travel adventures. oh hell, everything makes me think of future travel! every. thing.
okay…happy delicious sunday from moss cottage to wherever in the big wide world you happen to be!

I haven’t sketched in ages, but the red couch page makes me want to paint! Or maybe I just want a red couch… I love your sketching style.

I think Britain would be most suited to future travel adventures; a watercolor holiday in the Lake District, a jaunt through the Cotswolds, the Cornish coast…
I hear you completely on the “just want to be done” thing with journals – that’s my goal for next year. To finish travel journals from all the way back to 2010! Better done than perfect indeed.

I love your rendition of the painting of The Girl with the Pearl Earring. I loved that book and the movie.

Another masterpiece journal! Your sketches are fabulous and love how colorful they are. What a treasure you create. If you like British TV, try some britcoms like Keeping Up Appearances, Waiting for God (my fav — older people kicking the BS out of the world), Vicar of Dibley…and Doc Martin. Of course Poirot, he is tops.

I fell in love with Vera last year..the scenery is too die for! I’m a BBC drama freak…Love everything they produce. If you’ve not seen them yet, I highly recommend Foyle’s War, Single Handed (think Vera except set in moody Irish landscapes), Walander, White Chapel(not sure if this one’s BBC, but it’s great too). Just finished watching the entire series called Wire in the Blood..it is fabulous, not to mention the main character is really attractive and add in the British accent…swoon.
Pardon my lengthy list, but I know you would love these too:)

What a lovely journal. I always get inspired by your drawings. Thank you.
Watched Vera about a year ago and loved it!! Been a fan of Brenda Blethyn for a while. Ooooh, more episodes on Acorn…sweeeeet! I do love her accent too. On the subject of British telly…lately I have been loving Silk which was on Masterpiece recently but not sure where you can find it now. I love the courtroom aspect of that one. And of course there is Inspector Lewis – chemistry between the two inspectors (the younger one is married to Billie Piper of Dr Who fame) is wonderful.

I love Vera too. I have so many episodes saved to watch – series 3! And then I watch her in Pride and Prejudice and think – what an amazing actress!
Nancy from Fair Oaks, CA says
I just finished watching all 3 seasons VERA on Acorn TV (via the Internet which is mainly British films/TV series). Season 4 is coming out on Acorn TV in 2014. I loved it too!

“Rosemary and Thyme” if you want breathtaking English gardens (and some in Spain and Italy too)

You have watched the “Wallander” episodes I imagine – I have only seen the BBC versions so far w Branagh but the Swedish scenery is wonderful. Haven’t seen the Swedish productions yet. I pace myself on these because Wallander himself is so depressed.
“George Gently” just added season 5 became available on Netflix instant. Big crush on Martin Shaw
I don’t know if there are more seasons of Vera coming.

Vera rocks, the books are really good too!

so please just tell me as to where and when and what window you’ll throwing said ‘journals’ out of so I can be ready, with arms waiting, no make that arms holding bags, not better make that baskets, as I know what your journals look like and I know some of them are as hefty as a small suitcase, in any event I will be ready to catch ’em before they ever have a chance to hit the ground, I on the other hand will hit the road, runnin at a good clip…oh now I’m just joshin’ with ya, I know you’d never really part with those journals no matter how long they take to get done, kind of like baking a cake and you just want to start eatin the darn thing so why’s it taking so long to bake. I’m personally with ya and the gettin’ done thing, there comes a point in any of my journals when I am just ready to move on, might explain the stock pile I have of journals from all those yummy classes, when an idea comes I just have to stop everything and get started, I have no self restraint when it comes to journal creation; the one I’m workin on is ‘huge’ more on that soon…there is a story to tell with that one and it starts with ‘while taking full tilt boogie’ and many pages later….. oh it’s a page turner it is….;)double wink…

Well done!

This is your best journal your sketches are great but your photos are lovely also, so including them is quite alright. There! You have permission! We have been given a camper that fits on the back of a truck which we already had. Semi-local travel might be in the future. A whole book of Tennessee travels? It could be done. It certainly would be different from your travels! I haven’t seen the camper yet-maybe I had best check it out before packing !

Oohhh I love Vera. Are you able to understand all the accents?

After Vera, try Blue Murder.
