Rambling Around Dorsoduro from MAM on Vimeo.
i don’t always make videos when i travel, but i’d like to. they bring every second back to me and in such a visceral way. i made this one for my ticket to venice class members a few days after arriving. i remember that first day of wandering. the unexpected sunlight gilding every surface with light. the way i could hear the constant sound of water lapping against stone, or slapping against boats. i moved slowly through those narrow streets. seeing everything and breathing it all in – those minutes and hours and days.
and now that i’m home in los angeles instead of a venice winter wonderland the videos become a method of time travel.
i’m hoping to make a least a couple of videos while i’m in amsterdam. oh, not as many as venice probably, but enough to take me back there whenever i click play. i’m happily going through my music. gathering pieces that might work. this part of travel is rich. anticipating what you’ll see, but never really knowing for sure. not until you arrive, unpack, step out the door, and begin.
beginning on wednesday i’m having a $38 sale on all my classes. let’s call it an amsterdam sale, okay? good till i fly back home in mid-october. details forthcoming!
