more scenes from our little santa barbara art retreat. mary brought this lovely & amazing paper.
i couldn’t decide which was more beautiful, her shirt or the paper.
i love to see people absorbed in the process of deep and studied creation.
pam’s journals are unique in that they don’t just look spontaneous. they are. she thinks out almost none of her marks ahead of time. she is on fire. and everyone around her is warmed by the heat. i’ve never seen anything like it.
it got too hot inside for this little fellow. he went outside to sit on the bridge.
wanna meet my rabbit? mary, the happy hooker made him. she’s a rug-hooking savant.
i always wanted my very own bunny.
ya know?
when i stay in vacation rentals i always get so many ideas for moss cottage. like this built in bench. i’d love one just like this in my kitchen. but i would have drawers built into mine for storage.
but of course with a new bunny in the house it might not be the best time for a new project to begin.
oh.
did i mention my new watch? syd made it. it works really well and helps to keep me organized and on track. and on time of course. i regret that i don’t have a decent photo of syd to share with you. just picture a tall statuesque blonde with a hearty laugh. who makes fun watches. and shares her chocolate covered popcorn. and fun wallpapered blocks. (that i used to spell out curse words)
i am excited, happy, and grateful for the response to SEWN. thank you from the bottom of my bunny lovin’ heart.
looking very forward to playing with everyone beginning July 4th!
I’m going back to my machine now. there are more paper ideas to be finalized, and videos to be edited, and bunnies to dote over.
“Happy Hooker”
Heh, heh!
Here’s a list of the things I liked about your Sunday post: EVERYTHING! Except it’s not nice to call your friend a “hooker”.
Is that a Mister bunny? Hard to tell from the photos. Awfully cute! Can’t wait to start SEWNing;)
OMG. I adore that sweet bunny. I am sure Wyatt and Corky are thrilled to have a new friend, show him around Moss cottage, make sure he’s comfortable and all. What a great place to hang out with good friends and create for a few days. Looks like a fine and grand time was had by all. xxooxx
Ok, let’s see. I could get a flight from NY tonight, high-tail it down to Mexico, shop first thing for those beeeyootiful blouses…fly up to LA, wave to MAM/hijack bunny, direct flight back to NY and home for dinner. (carrying said bunny and looking somewhat fabulous in one of my (many) new blouses
Yeah, I know. Dream on Ang.
hi sandra!
i used AIRBNB which ive not used before. had an excellent experience. i think the key is find a place with tons of good reviews. i was really pleased with this little place. it was only $150/night which was quite a good value for 2 people i think. it had loads of reviews and the owner was very nice! i will definitely stay here again because the table/work surface was so roomy and comfortable.
Aha…NOT a real rabbit. Well, he sure is cute, and you won’t have to provide him with a litter box and spoil him rotten! Ha ha!
May I ask: How did you find such a cool cottage to rent? Would love to do something like that with friends!
O my goodness, that brown paper immediately drew my attention. Gorgeous… I so love the rabbits… Anyway, off to the States tomorrow so better do some more packing, but I first enrolled in your sewn class. Yihaa!!!!!
Wonderful post, O, and art friends are THE BEST!!!!
So beautiful – the bunny, the admiration that you all have for each other’s talent, your photo with the fabuloso paper. Basically all that and a bag o’ chips – or should I say CHIMPS 😉 you are a lucky gal who deserves every delish moment! Ps – I heart da bunneh…
Oh that bunny is really over the top! I’ll bet you will sleep with it, just like a baby. I would. What a fun time you all had. Lauradodson – come to Mexico – blouses like that are reasonably priced! xoDonna

There IS a pattern! Oh wowow.
I love Mary’s blouses. I’ve looked at them at El Mercado in San Antonio and they are over $100. I’m wondering if I could make one? Hmmmm.
that bench is so YOU…..I had scrolled down the pics before reading, and so was surprised to learn I was not looking at your own kitchen.
I saw your knew bunny and thought — AIR SPIRIT! I’m green with envy. I’ve been following her blog for years. Another talented lady. You just draw these fabulous women to you.
Crikey!
Look at that WHITE BLOUSE and all that paint. The Bravest of Brave Makers indeed….
