a few pages in my travel journal have photos & postcards like some of these. the euphemia church watercolor up above was drawn from a brown & white plaque on the outside of the entrance to the church. i added all the bright colors myself! then i decided to add some cheap blue & pale green acrylic craft paint.
carol had her ipad with her every day so sometimes i took pics with it and then emailed them to my ipad. that was the case with the plaque.
more tomorrow!

I so agree with Janet Ghio (above) and her choice of words says it all and your artistry says it all too. My trip to Greece is coming up. I’m encouraged by your journal to keep a journal of my trip. Thanks for sharing.

Ya know you’d not been able to pry me off that terrace; no crow bar big enough for that job on the whole, entire planet…gosh what a great place to sit and sketch and paint, and nibble and sip…and well to just stare at the wonders of the Umbrian country side from your farm house perch… and these pages are fantastic. I love the balance between your sketched pages with photos and PC’s tossed into the mix here and there. Splendid. What is not to love? That door peeking from beneath that last page shared is divine and all those little details. I think that is what I’m drawn to in your sketches, they have a sort of personality and life all there own. They are not just ‘sketches’ they are bright, baubles of places captured through pen and ink and set down for a life time and they will come alive anytime you look at them…it’s a completely different in a way because you are so connected to what you are creating with pen and brush. Your collaged travel journals; all the elements pulled together create a memory that begins with whatever you happen to choose for a page but in sketching it’s active, all encompassing kind of process; I’m rambling and probably not making any sense just pleased to have these wonderful peeks. xxooxx
