how about a few in-process photos? this week i used my pentel pocket brush pen. this requires the steady hands of a surgeon.
if a bear were to grasp a pentel pocket brush pen in his mighty bear claws this might be what he would draw.
but this isn't what he drew. i committed this act of sketchery. and i was not wearing potholders.
i just draw what i see. my nose was doing that. my eyes were doing that. my lips were doing that. they were!
i went in afterwards with a pigma micron .05 and my little watercolor set.
next week i'm going to use either the brush pen again or a small watercolor brush.
if you're doing something in your sketchbook that you want to share please do in the links.
my sister should be posting her versions soon. for now she has her week 4 sketches up…go SEE!

Anna Maria SKETCHWARS=just what my sister and I sometimes refer to as our Wednesday portrait sketching…

Your sketches are very cool! There’s a sketchwar going on? I had a guest staying with me for the past month, and I’m a bit out of synch!
Mary Ann Moss says
oh margarita they are strictly free-hand. cant you tell? ha ha ha
i use the ipad to display my photo or my sisters photo – prop it up and i draw while looking at that. easier than my desktop computer screen because i can take it everywhere.

MAM are you doing these free handed or with the help of your IPad? sorry inquiring minds want to know either way you always put a smile on my face!

hahahahaha thank you for making me giggle today, I needed it. <3
(not because of your drawings, because of what you wrote about them)

As an art professor says…”you are developing a wonderful ‘sensitive’ line…..
It took me quite awhile to even understand what that was !!! 😉
Keep up the good work!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pentel pocket brush pen and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my bear paw drawing. The PPBP (for those of us who use the code name) helped me embrace my wobbly line drawings. I am linking to a drawing I did with a micron http://greenglass.typepad.com/blog/2013/02/im-so-glad-he-called.html (kids in a classroom taking a test where I was the proctor) and one I did with a PPBP http://greenglass.typepad.com/blog/2012/11/roz-stendahl-made-me-do-it.html that has a link to Roz Stendahl’s Project Fridays with a PPBP. Plus I love love love the way you captured what your eyes and nose and lips were doing. That was a cool accomplishment.

No fetching sketches of portraits to share but if you want to take a gander at my first official ‘sketch from scratch’ I posted it in this blog post, http://mylifeonebitatatime.blogspot.com/2013/02/an-unprotected-heart.html and scroll down to the bottom and you will find it quietly hiding there because I find sketching a challenge of patience and finger biting nerves..as I do so you would here mumbling to myself, words best not repeated here… I’m loving peeking in on yours and Carol’s, a case of sketch envy for sure.

Well, there’s my portrait project… in which I have fallen behind a bit:

Your self-portrait looks like you, which is the main thing.
