whenever I am in mexico I wonder why I don’t come more often. san cristobal de las casas is is brilliant. the streets hum. the walls talk. I am drunk on pure bright color. The streets rise and fall and I sort of move through them in a trance.
today was cool and misty. cloud piles curling around the mountains that stand in a circle around the town. sun beams made shadows on walls now and then. i kept stopping and looking and stopping and looking and stopping and looking.
the sidewalks are narrow and some stand 2 feet off the ground. you really have to watch where you put your hoofs down. in some spots the street is a long way down. lucky for me I have a new pair of keen hiking shoes that make me feel like a sure footed burro. but still my knees, ankles, feet, and legs in general are sore!
I am having epic dreams at night. Of animals and flowers and birds. Today when i took a nap buck visited me. dreams inside of other dreams. and most strangely of all I am remembering dreams I had years ago that i had forgotten. snatches of vivid imagery coming into my head while I’m walking.
2 sweet little dogs live in my garden. Percy & Nancy. i rescued nancy today from the iron spiral staircase leading to the roof. she climbed up but couldn’t get back down. 2 former street doggies living the sweet life now. I figured out how to get more pics into a post. but only 5. am going to try and add P&N’s pics below…
also figured out how to put my formerly purchased iTunes on my iPad. music while journaling!

Just from the colors, I can tell you are in Mexico. Neighborhoods in El Paso have colors like those, one of the millions of reasons I love my town!! Viva la vida loca!!

This is just what I needed–the colors are incredible, so vibrant they make my heart sing with joy!! I have to show my sister these pictures–I must convince her that there is more to Mexico than drug cartels and crime (her thoughts, not mine). You have made me a lover of all things Mexico and it is now #2 on my destination wish list (just under Greece!!). Thanks for taking us along again!!

I so love your travels! It is a very grey and dreary day here today, so you have sent enormous cheer to north of the border! Keep having fun down Mexico Way. Makes me think of Chris Isaak songs!

huff, puff, huff….hrumph….running with scissors, hufff….trying to catch up…i’ve been busy the last 3 days so OMG, I thought I’d missed the grand departure and all but i’ve caught up with you Mary Ann. The sights are amazing. Love the awesome doors. Makes we want to paint my front door. Hey I could go for red and green and paint a wreath on it…just for the heck of it. LOL

Yummy color! So much more interesting than cookie cutter subdivision architecture. How is the coffee? Had any margaritas yet? What’s on the menu? What are the local crafts? Climbed any of the mountains yet? Give the pooches a pat for me.

I wonder about the name of your casita? Isn’t it cool how you walk through an innocuous looking door into a little paradise?

Your pictures are beautiful, oh to dream in color! Those two doggies are so cute, I think you must find a way to bring them back to the states, they would fit in great at your house, the kitties may not think so, but in time they would all love each other!!!
