As you know it is my duty to try and come up with a holiday appropriate martini for each and every family gathering. This year I further challenged myself by only using items that I had on hand. Here is what I came up with. I call it "The Stars and Stripes". You will see stars if you drink too many.
Here is the recipe:
1 oz frozen pink pink lemonade concentrate (I like minute maid the best)
1 1/2 oz water
2 oz plain vodka
1/2 oz blue Curacao
Shake the lemonade, water, and vodka together in a martini shaker and strain into a glass. Carefully pour the blue Curacao down the side and it will settle on the bottom. Garnish with a red twizzler or fresh strawberries if desired. Enjoy.

Oh, my! I hope that you can see me on the edge of your glass. You may have to fetch the magnifier. I am Esther Williams, a mere 1/16th of an inch long. I am poised in all of my swimsuit splendor, a beauty in my 50’s attire. Watch as I dive in, circle the glass in wondrous strokes. I am poetry in motion. Marvel at how I slide effortlessly between the layers of pink lemonade, water and vodka…to drift languidly in the unctuousness of the Curacao. Marvel at my dolphinesque moves. If you listen very closely, you will hear John Philip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes. It’s a good life here in the rainbowness of this glass, though you may have to help me out soon and take me to the shower. Happy, glorious 4th to you………….
……and I second Susan W’s comment.
