My 48 hour vacation has begun. Going to dive into my wood panels. Am just coming up for air. And food.
A storm is rolling in off the Pacific, straight towards LA. Should be here by midnight.
I'm leaving a little light on so the storm knows where to find me. I'll just be here waiting. I love storms, rain, paint, paper, cats,
silence, weekends, messes. love.
In the meantime I'm sharing my latest panels & journal pages. I was
just being impulsive and random in the journal. Using leftover paint.
Gluing down scrap casualties from my latest fiasco. then… I looked down. Made this sound: beh. Shuffled off to bed. Woke up. Looked again. I saw something in that blur of color.
The blurry pictures are always my favorite:
I love these small pockets of time. Of being fully awake in the world.
Content. Pulling the house around me. Sinking into the weekend. Long
days filled with little luxuries. Using my eyes and hands to make
visual stories on the page and panel. Even if I don't know what they mean. Yet.
Feels like I'm paddling my canoe right where I want it to go. Leaning into the weekend. Into a little world of my own making.

I love your impulsive randomness… will you be teaching a wood panel impulsive randomness class, something without a sewing machine? Do ya think, maybe?

I love that top picture- beautiful. 🙂

you know, the other day i saw the photo on your panel and meant to ask you what it was and i’m glad i came back here. i can’t tell if they’re air traffic controllers or a baseball umpire training class.
not joking at all. i wonder about stuff like this until the edges of my teeth are worn down.

Clouds rolling in here in New Mexico. Just a spit of rain every now and then. Probably just your leftovers.
Love the panels. They’d make a nice workshop.

Oh does it sound like a superb way to spend the weekend. Cats, storms, creating, alone “me” time—oooh that is the perfect day! You go, Girl! Have fun and revel in your luxuries! *Sherri*

Sister….I think I need to come over, have a glass of wine and paint with you!

You are the breath of fresh air that we all need. I would have loved to know I could have a 48 hour vacation instead of just a weekend all those years of working. Storms are fine if they do not cause damage or harm. Yes, leave the light on…then I am not alone. Your art is so you and that is wonderful. Keep creating…

Hey you
You already know how I feel about those amazing panels. You sound so full of bliss and contentment, I feel it right down in my bones, all the way to MN and back again…full circle…I love when that happens…you are so right about ‘leaning’ into…it’s so much more fun than leaning away…enjoy the storm…I love ’em too…

I would never think to put red with purple and then I see your photo and I’m like…hhhhh, I love that.

Pulling the house around me, and leaning in to the week-end. Mary Ann, you have such a way to describe the feelings I think we all have. I call it cocooning, and laying low. Hubby cooked me poached eggs on Pumpernickel toast this morning, then kissed me goodbye and told me to make art all day. So I have pulled my supplies in around me, and am attempting to make a brave “mess”.

I love the way you use your words to create a visual image! A 48 hour vacation – sounds so much better than a weekend :-)) Enjoy the time and thanks for sharing your latest artistic adventure!!

You are awesome, Mary Ann.
Me, I don’t love storms so much, anymore. Not after a couple of hurricanes (yes, in the middle of Europe) that did some serious damage to the roof, water everywhere in the house. I don’t mind a nice thunderstorm, though.

I like the picture these words paint. I like storms too-I like the idea of battening down the hatches and hearing the wind howl and the rain pound against the windows.
I also like that you have Garrison Keillor on your sidebar. i *heart* him. I could listen to him all day long.
I will be thinking of you painting. I wish I were too, but I am on art hiatus till the day before my birthday, when the Games end. In the meantime, I am gathering tons of ROD fodder and catching snippets of inspiration via my google reader.
Make some art for me! (Not FOR me, but do some cause I’m not, is what I mean.)

Go go go!
