Happy Friday! Added more photos to my Mérida journal this afternoon. Turns out the dearth of postcards in the Yucatan has had the affect of prolonging my trip to Mexico. I usually finish my journal while traveling. But this time I’m reliving each day over the more time I spend rustling through the pages.
Which is good. Because I’m hitting the road again on Monday. The motor will be running in the jalopy and me, myself, and my friend El Niño will be heading out on the highway. You know…looking for adventure and whatever comes our way. Naturally, I’m heading north. Up up up she goes where she stops nobody knows. Roadtrip time!
A little rain won’t stop me. I am an explorer! Vasco de Gama didn’t let foul weather slow him down and neither will I. He probably didn’t have a nice oilcloth hat like me either. And I know for a fact he didn’t have an old army issue compass Or a jar of peanut butter in the trunk for emergencies. Also he didn’t have a laptop.

Well, I have waited long enough to comment here. I knew you were becoming weary of all my boisterous comments, so I took a break, and now that you’re gone and you can’t check in for awhile, I’m going to comment now. Because this is just too much, and it has to be addressed. So, too bad if you are tired of my comments, because they come out of love and envy. And admiration. And greed and pouting. And love.
anyway, so here goes. I was
oh, dammit if I haven’t forgotten.

Wowee wow, this journal is looking so good…it’s so great to relive the moments as you work in it – thanks for sharing and thanks for posting the links to the other Remains people. Everyone’s journals are such a reflection of the makers and they are all so different and beautiful! I’ve been thinking about this as I work on mine…how each of us is reflected in the scraps we accumulate and the unique way we all put them together. I think when we meet people we ought to just hand them our journals…no words necessary…just flip the pages and catch the essence of the maker. Much better than the usual banter. Ok…I’ve been at the sewing machine all afternoon…can you tell?…Bon voyage on your trip up north…wish I were in your trunk! xo frannie

Nor did Vasco de Gama have LA and the munchkins to get away FROM! Give a wave and snort to Ventura as you fly by in the Mossmobile… music blaring and the cooler full of junk food…

I was JUST going to suggest that you drop in on Erin and Margot. Nice of me to issue THEIR invitations, right?

If you make it up Cambria way – drop by the library and say “Hi”. Haven’t actually blown my own trombone for about 20 years now – but loved the reference!

I SO want to take your class now! I love the look of stitched papers and all of these journals look so stinkin’ cool! I hope I can still sign up–and I hope I can afford to in the next week! If not, will you be having this class again in the future?
And speaking of the rain–my son’s and daughter’s schools were closed early on Thursday and all day Friday. I have heard of snow days, but never rain days! Have fun on your adventure! *Sherri*

Looking good Mary Ann. Its exciting to see a journal in action since I haven’t had the guts to start in mine yet.
If you think you might hit anywhere near Hollister and I’d love to take you to lunch and talk about journals and art and stuff.
Its off 152 West between 5 and 101.
Happy road tripping…

Oh your journal is beautiful! I want to flip through every page and read all the journaling. Your coming up North? Really? How far north, like the 45 parallel north? If you make it to Portland you better call me. I would love a reason not to go to work – friends coming in to town. Hugs.
