The last few weeks of school before the holidays. It’s craft central in the little class in the big city. I meant to show these the other day.
Give us fabric, glitter glue, and googly eyes and we will make turkeys.
And also we took a fieldtrip last week where we saw this…
and this…
which was at least 5 feet tall. Otherwise I would have put it in my pocket and carried it home.
But more on that later. It’s 10 p.m. I’m still in my pajamas. I’ve been hard at work up here in Moss Cottage. Doing…you know…things. I’m going to fall into bed now. But before I do THANK YOU. Again.
I received your pre-registrations for class. And exceptionally kind comments and emails.
One of the C.M. drew a picture of me on our field trip. And I one of her as we studied each other from across the table. My teeth look exactly like that.
yes they do.

Those turkeys are fantastic, I love them. The children in your class will never forget you and in years to come will tell their own children about the wonderful teacher they had when they were little. I’m sure you are instilling creativity and wonder in their minds and it really will open doors for them in the future. They will use the practical skills you’ve taught them in their upper school years and beyond but more importantly, you’ve opened their minds. I bet the other kids all hope to have Ms Moss as their teacher.
Well Done.

It is wonderful what you do with your classes..and what you create at home. Those children are so fortunate to have you as a teacher.
Art is so damned important and why do so many schools get rid of it, along with music? (yes, I know..$$..but some things are more important.)
One of my most favorite memories was of my youngest son who created a drawing of a giant. I stupidly asked why I could only see his feet and his knees. He looked at me with an incredulous expression and then said, “He is so big, I can’t get him on the page.” I wish that I had his drawing today. Dumb me. I should have known that.
It is so important to teach children to dance with their pencils, crayons, paints, snippets of this and that with glue..and important expressions of who and what we can do and create with abandon and JOY…JOY for all of the glorious COLOR and TEXTURE in our lives… JOY to be alive and create, which might be the act of giving thanks for just being alive and savoring life.
OOPS..I may have gone beyond the accepted amount of words.
Admiration to you, e.

Lovely turkeys and your C.M. “artist’s date” field trip looks like a lot of fun. It’s so GREAT to get out of the house, I mean classroom, and see what’s out there. Fun for everyone except the whole herding cats thing. xo fran

Thanks for the turkey pix – quite wonderful. Where did you go on your field trip? Zoos (LA’s is great) are nice but giving seven and eight year olds art exhibits is even more profound. I’m thankful for Ms Moss.
