RANDI’S BOOK
The last few days I’ve spent in the company of my friend, Randi. We’ve been going for drives, eating good Mexican food, drinking salted margaritas on the rocks, telling stories, poring over each other’s visual journals, taking pictures, rattling spray cans, going to Cuban bakeries and exchanging big ideas.
I find her use of color, pattern, texture, and images intoxicating.
Her visual journals are rich and gorgeous evidence of what can happen when you march to the beat of your own drummer and build a visual vocabulary that is uniquely your own.
RANDI’S BOOK
Pure hits of narcotic bliss. Don’t you agree?
This could very well turn into a 2-post-in-1-day sort of deal. In between yacking with Randi and thinking about packing for Portugal, I’ve been painting & stenciling on old scraps of Fabriano paper I had laying around from the last time I built a visual journal. Rama Lama Ding Dong!!! one episode of FUN right after the next! I don’t include in that the new haircut I gave myself yesterday (then tried to fix and made worse). Sometimes when I’m on a creative roll I mistakenly imagine I am channeling Paul Mitchel. I’m. NOT.

thanks for sharing Mary Ann…love Randi’s blog…btw…what is the photo of the plane with the orange spray coming out of it? Great photo but I dread what the “stuff” is…
Perhaps while Randi is in town you both could do a “bonus” video together for the Stencilry class blog…please…please…please! Sound like my kids when you tell them no…they are relentless…have a great visit. Fondly, Roberta

Oh what a blast you two must be having!!! Randi’s pages are so amazing. I have enjoyed her Creativity Notebook and Card Set and a few of her zines. Love her style, and Mary Ann, your are right there with hers!!! The last margarita I had was a mango margarita – they can get dangerous!!! Oh, and how I would love to see the hair cut – now was this done after the margaritas???? 🙂
Thanks again for a fantastic class – and best wishes to a wonderful trip!!

Sounds like my kind of fabulous time. Good Mexican food (something you don’t get a lot of in Australia), salted margaritas, art and big ideas. Yes please to all of those.
The wind is back in my part of the world so I’m off to build myself a spray paint station out of a cardboard box. I can’t wait any longer for the weather to improve.

She must have been delirious to be back in CA and to be spending time with such a playmate. How lucky you both are and how distinct and individual each voice is.
now then for a nail brush to clean your surfaces for another load of paint. YeeHaw
