This stencil mask of my sister has been staring at me from my bulletin board ever since she was here last. I pulled it down the other day and used it on top of this already collaged page (above) in my visual journal.
Here's the page I made last year using the same mask.
Let me go rummage through my heap of stencils. I know there's gotta be another silhouette in there somewhere!
Exciting projects in the works over here at the command center of Moss Cottage! A wildly cool visual journaling/stencil CLASS is being concocted. For grownups GAH! It will hit the road in about a month, naturally coinciding with my upcoming 6 week vacation. Houston, we do not have a problem!

So much coolness in these pages!

I’m sitting on the patio, waiting.
By the way, I hope the term ‘adult’ class is what I am thinking.

I bet Huell would come if you invited him…and put you in a show about Undiscover Artistic Women of LA…
Michele says
I love the stencil silhouettes on the journal page! I NEVER would have thought of that! NEVER! You ROCK, MA!
Stephen du Toit says
Here’s another vote for the online class – make them regular events and you might even be able to retire!

A class?? Where?? Do tell?? Inquiring minds must know – if by chance it’s in the Houston area … oh my, that’s just too much to hope for!!
stephanie says
Your class will be fab…local…traveling afar?
Have been lost here in your links, can you tell how long I’ve been hanging around I wonder?
katie says
hmmmmm…..a class you say? hmmmmm…..(rubbing hands together smiling) i wish it would be up in the puget sound area, wish, wish, wish.

I would like a more defined chin in my next stencil please. Do you need me to be available to be a “mask model” for your class? I could make martini’s and get the group loosened up for you… on second thought, better make it an on-line class. I can still serve virtual cocktails.
Carla Sonheim says
Yay, you’re teaching an adult class!!!!! Details, please!
Fran Meneley says
Class, did I hear class???? What a marvelous idea, Mary Ann. And yes oh yes! It’s a good idea. Someone in the comments section here mentioned an on-line version? Or perhaps a trip to LA is in the offing. I think it’s a great idea. And I love the journal page – so cool to just go over an existing page. I tell my students no tearing out – if you don’t like it just journal over it – a wonderful transformation! xo frannie

Ok, much less crafty minds want to know how one does such a stencil. I’m thinking a profile photo, enlarged till right sized, then traced on stencil to be cut out?
Becky New says
Any chance this is an online class???? You would be swamped with subscriptions!!!
Shawn says
how about a class in sunny warm florida by the sandy beaches????
How do you make the stencils???
I would love to attend this classs!!
Brian Kasstle says
Ok, is the class in the LA area? Houston? Where my dear? I’d love to go if it were in the LA area???
Julie says
Who can teach a stencil class better than you?? No one….rock on!
Barb says
I LOVE the mask form of your sister. Very cool! I really need to make some new masks/stencils to use in my journaling and art…thanks for the reminder.
A class? OH MY!
Peace & Love,
~Barb~

holy cow holy cow – you are gonna be swamped with responses for a class! How wonderful for you – six weeks -sigh–ah–gurgle-glug*. More inspiration from the Mosster. The cool thing about using the masks is that you don’t necessarily have to get out ALL that spray paining gear.
*sounds of delight (i suppose) – not sure, just my immediate reaction

You’re going to teach?!!! How exciting. Wish I was near enough for it. You’ll be fabulous of course!
Love the mask of your sister. It seems sort of secret agentish.
