I realized today that if I didn't have a day job I'd seriously need to make myself a schedule because the tendency to get nothing accomplished is mighty strong for a loafer like myself.
But since my remaining 2 weeks of vacation are zipping by, I think I'll just continue to loaf untroubled by vague thoughts of industry. Sewing things into the journal, blog hopping, making collages, reading novels and poems, interspersed with plenty of television and napping seems like the right thing to do. The honorable thing. The wise thing. Here, let me go do it.
The Patience of Ordinary Things
It is a kind of love, is it not?
How the cup holds the tea,
How the chair stands sturdy and foursquare,
How the floor receives the bottoms of shoes
Or toes. How soles of feet know
Where they're supposed to be.
I've been thinking about the patience
Of ordinary things, how clothes
Wait respectfully in closets
And soap dries quietly in the dish,
And towels drink the wet
From the skin of the back.
And the lovely repetition of stairs.
And what is more generous than a window?

I learned how to make these rounded corners for photos today thanks to one of the many Photoshop tutorials found via google. This super simple tutorial will speed you on your way to the universe of rounded corners. Or into a hissy fit cursing explosion. Nah..just kidding. I carefully sorted through those tutorials and found this easy one.

I am loving this journal and your poems you post. I feel like I’m on vacation everytime I visit your blog. I so need a vacation right now, or just for football season to be over for my son. LOL
I can’t wait to see what you create next….

The poem is lovely and gives me pause for thought. I am crazy in love with this little security envelope journal. I tore through my stash and discovered that I DO have a big old padded envelope that something fine must have come in. And I have a most generous selection of scraps. Here’s the best part, daughter gave me a little sewing machine that I actually think I have figured out how to use. So Ms. Muse, thanks again!

My mother asked me today what I would do with my time if I retired and I didn’t give her any definite answer. It’s because I would have fun entertaining myself just piddling around. I never feel that undirected or time-waste-y when doing nothing. I love love loved reading of your days. So, I appoint you the Official Mistress of Loaf, She Who Blesses The Unattached Minutes.
BTW, that journal should be handled by us all, it is just too inviintg.
