Largeness is a lifelong matter. You grow because you are not content not to. You are like a beaver that chews constantly because if it doesn't its teeth grow long and lock. You grow because you are a grower: you're large because you can't stand to be small
-Wallace Stegner
I finally, reluctantly finished Angle of Repose and started The Spectator Bird. Wallace Stegner is my new hero. I'm just saying.
Last week, I saw through the lens of my camera the last of the summer moons. I love staring up at the night sky just before going to bed. Thinking big thoughts. Imagining the possible. And impossible. Feeling the cool air. Listening to the night birds and crickets.
And in the early morning finding stars have replaced the moon.

I didn’t want Angle of Repose to end, either. I found it slow going at the start, but didn’t want it to ever end. One of the best books about the west ever written.

I’ve got to give Stegner another try!

I love that we can all share in this together.
Your playlist is the first playlist I didn’t want to lower the volume on immediately. It’s perfect!

I love the night sky, too. And recently, we went back up to our friends’ ranch in Paso Robles and spent all evening just staring up at the stars we could see on night with just a sliver of moon, and the milky way I haven’t seen in years. I can never get over how many stars appear in a sky when there is no competition. It’s gorgeous.
Thanks for this reminder. Great photos.
