Visual Journal #9 The last page is scribbled on. One year coming to a close.
At school someone else finishes her journal entry with a blaze of hearts. "Kisses I am blowing you," she explains.
Vintage photo frames meet mailart across a divide of woodgrain contact paper. Sewing goes awry and has to be ripped out. I like the patterns the broken stitches make.
A vinyl pocket is sewn on the back to hold a photo.
Day 2 of walkway construction comes to a close at Moss Cottage. The crew leaves. One member of the cat posse gazes in quiet reflection at the aftermath.
Another pokes around in the dirt trying to find where he buried the red duct tape.
I ponder the combinations to be made of 10 tiles with 3 different patterns across 4 grids of walkway. After much grave thought I conclude that chaos is the only possible solution.

Hey MA, I’ve missed reading your blog. Had lots to catch up on. You are gettin’ serious with that walkway! I love the tiles and the simple clean approach but aren’t you a little bit tempted to add some of your rocks, and sea glass and marbles, and shells and doll heads, and broken china and old keys, and lucky pennies, and maybe a few of your vinyl pockets so you can change out the contents as the mood strikes you?
You got me laughin’ about one of the cats trying to find where he buried the red tape. He knows it’s too much trouble to go through all of that red tape. He’s only trying to save you the grief.

that walkway is going to be wonderful – you will have lots of admirers beating a path to your real door rather than your digital door. The cats will be busy – they need to brush up their hosting skills.
Each year there are several kids you record more than others, this year it seems to be Curly Locks – she’s the running hugger too, isn’t she, and The Postman. You are all lucky to have each other. Sometimes I think it would be fun to loop grade levels from year to year (except for the inappropriate expectations of our district and the feds.)just to have more time with that class. Every child deserves teachers who love her (him).

First let me say I got True Visions and love your pages in that book, wow…..you did good. Don’t you want to come on over to Louisiana and teach me a few things? It’s not that far from CA. LOL
I love all the pages you posted, esp. the one you had to rip the stitching out of, that would be my page if I was sewing. And your little “someone” is adorable with all those curls. She’s starting at just the right age, I wish I had and stuck with it. To have all the journals from when I was a child, that would be awesome.
Oh and I found your red duct tape, it’s a Wal-Mart over by the painting supplies, I picked up a roll. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it but we’d talked about it so much I just had to have some. LOL Poor kitty, he didn’t do it. 😀
Good luck with those tiles, just thinking about where to put them is giving me a big headache. I’m sure it’s going to be just right when you’re done. Can’t wait to see it.
