Suffocating heat & humidity and a 14 hour long power outage put a damper on my 3-day weekend thrills. The power went out around 8 p.m. and didn’t return until 10 a.m. this morning. It was kind of fun….for the first couple of hours. I wrote in my visual journal by the light of my camping lanterns and jumbo flashlights. Every door and window up here on my little hill was open wide. After awhile the cat posse retired to the tiled bathroom floor and I took a cold shower then collapsed on my warm bed to read.
Just before sundown I stepped outside to do a little bit of stenciling at my spraypaint station. Nice view, but I do wish these lovely clouds held some cold rain. Yesterday afternoon on my way home I saw an enormous wall of stiff white clouds surrounding the city. Then last night I spotted a few more clouds drift across the moon lit sky. Today more of the same. Plenty of dreamy clouds and hot air, but no rain in sight. Darn.
Enough of my pathetic weather woes, go here NOW and check out the sheer fabulousness that IS Ann Tracy.
Then maybe you’ll want to do a little armchair traveling and head south of the border with John from Mexico Woods. I like to keep track of the off-beat adventures he and his wife keep having. I also like to imagine myself becoming an ex-pat in my retirement years. I’m the only person I know who can’t wait to turn 60.
I very much enjoyed finding THIS artist via Etsy this week. She hasn’t updated since July, but since I dig her art so much I don’t care.

I loved the pictures of LA in the morning. When I was kid living in LA ( at least a couple ofdecades ago, Yikes!!)I used to ride the bus to school through the very same spot Down Town. Where those beautiful skyscrapers now stand is or was called Bunker Hill. It was the site of a one of LA’s oldest and most beautiful Victorian neighborhoods. Then in the late 60’s “Urban Renewal” happened and there went the neighborhood. Not a trace anywhere in site left of what people say was a very magical place. Have you heard of LA artist Leo Politi? You would like his stuff. Look him up.
Your site is lots of fun

I work for Redondo Bch USD as a behavioral aide…I do not want to go back and can’t imagine how you are doing it in the city with this heat! Those little rascals get so grumpy when it is like this! I will write when your package has been mailed, until then…keep cool! karen b…

Losing power on top of this heat would be bad, but we don’t have AC or a pool to keep running, so I guess it wouldn’t impact us too much (although we’re living on cold water from the fridge, i may have to rethink my position on that one…)

Oh, man, that totally sucks as a way to start your weekend! But I bet it did make the time go by a little slower for a while 😉 Once when the kids were babies we were staying in a hotel in Dallas for some family function during the summer when right before bed, there was an explosion outside and the hotel was without power for the rest of our stay. No windows on the 14th floor. You can imagine how much fun we had with two sweaty screaming babies all night! And they wouldn’t even take anything off the bill–grrrr..
